word counts!

Hey everyone! It's the half-way point and I see that you are working hard to keep up with your word counts! Don't worry if you're a little behind. Try to forget about the work count while you're writing. Just put it out of your mind and let the words flow from your head through your fingers to the keyboard. Try to find a Zen place where all is peaceful and calm and everything is achievable!

How's everyone doing for their word count?

I'm a bit over 2000 for my first day. Don't forget that December is for editing! 1700 words a day is hard enough without going over it an extra billion times. Also, it's not too late to tweak your character sheets, if you have a properly developed character they'll practically tell the tale themselves.

Also, what word processor is everyone using? I'm currently using notepad++; it doesn't let you edit font styles, which will shave some time off of your writing time, and it has macros so that you can write even faster.

I recommend a few macros such as: "." with the cursor pushed right behind the period so that you can just press one button and start writing what they say, said (character's name). with each macro applied for the separate characters, so that you don't have to spell everything out, and

chapter
so that you can just keep on writing after a section ends.

Lastly, everyone make sure to have fun! So few good writers consider creating their work tedious, and if you think it is, there's not something wrong with you, you're probably just looking at the situation wrong.
----------

Hey, guys. First year trying NaNoWriMo, but I've considered it on and off for quite a while. I'm in Ashtabula County, but given the fact that there isn't a group for that, I'm hoping it's cool for me to hop in here with you.

Lakeland Community College?

Is anyone here a student or professor at LCC? I live in Geauga but am currently going to school at Lakeland. I've been thinking of posting some flyers around campus to generate interest and if things go well, possibly having some sort of write-in or meetup (hopefully some people will have common break times?). If nothing else, I'd love to meet some other people in my area who are doing NaNoWriMo this year.
OT: Looking for some help (animal adoption)

Early this past spring, we had a young cat, barely older than a kitten, come wandering by. He was really scrawny and scraggly and since then we've been feeding him a couple times a day. He's now quite healthy looking and not at all mean or viscous and we suspect he was abandoned, maybe by some people who moved out recently?

Stray Kitty can't stay with us (we already have two cats and my father said "Hell no") so I'm trying to find him a home before the snow comes. I really don't want to take him to a shelter where he probably won't be adopted.

Stray Kitty is very, very sweet and curious with the sweetest, softest little meow. He seems to be a calico, I think. He's white and his back and tail are a combo of brown and gray with leopard spots on his back and stripes on his tail. On the back of each leg is a dark gray/brown smudge of color. He has a sweet, sad face and a bit of a hurt ear (we think he was in a fight). He doesn't have mites and isn't shedding.

I'm hoping to find him a warm, loving home and he seems to be perfectly okay with other cats (albeit hesitant and timid). I will pay for his shots and everything.

If you or anyone you know are interested, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! It's cold at night and I really don't want him to have to suffer through the snow.

I'm in Twinsburg, about an hour outside of Cleveland and not afraid of driving to meet up. I will also pay for his shots.

Thanks.

A little NaNo help?

I have tiptoed into your region once again.
Don't think I'm coming home during NaNo this time, but I promise to be there in spirit.

Anyway, I was hoping y'all could help me just a wee little bit.

As a side project during November, I'm asking everybody to send me postcards from which I'll base a story.

All I'm asking is that the front of the postcard is actually a place of some sort (Lake Shore Park, Great Lakes Mall, Harpersfield, whatever) and that on the back, you write a character name, the character's age, and a sentance or a few words about that character.

Stick it in the mail to me, and when I get it, I will use the image on the front and the character on the back, to write a short story of at least 500 words. (Just think 100 postcards, and that's another 50,000 words right there.)

Bonus points x 50 if you manage a postcard from North East Ohio that *isn't* of Cleveland. Seriously.

I'm asking you guys specifically, because I thought it'd be a neat twist to the challege to have to look at where I grew up in such a different way..

Send them to me:
