Really good question! I'd like to know too. I have to tell my boss when I need off for it. ^_____^

As far as I know, Mishedor (the other ML) has not planned one (I asked). But I was thinking about this myself, and I would like to know which you would prefer:
1) meeting on Sunday
2) meeting on Halloween, and staying a bit past midnight to start writing

In the latter case, it would take place at my house on the westside. There would assuredly be tea and some form of snack or dessert available. In the former, it could still take place at the house but I am open to suggestions.

I have no idea where the west side is, but I would need a ride, either way.

I've been so busy that I almost forgot about a kick-off party. My fiance actually asked me "Aren't you going to a NaNo 'Yay let's start writing' get-together?" lol I came on here to check and make a post about it if it hadn't been addressed but you beat me to it. :)

I'd be up for a kick-off party on either Sunday or Halloween. I'd just like to meet everybody and discuss novel ideas and such. I'll be up on Halloween 'til midnight to get writing either way but it would be pretty cool to kick everything off with a bunch of NaNoers. :)

I'm coming from Watsonville so I'll have to drive a small distance regardless of kick-off location. If anyone south of Santa Cruz needs a ride, I'd be more than happy to offer one if timing and schedules allow. :) Let me know.

Knowing my boss and my schedule, the soonest I could get to a party would be ten thirty. So I'm game for the Halloween night one followed by writing (I'm archaic- it's getting the beginning written out in a notebook). I mean, I'd more likely get anywhere about eleven. PM. *makes face at Rite Aid scheduling*

Alright sweet. Further details:

It'll be on Halloween. Try to arrive between 10:30 and 11PM, but a little earlier is fine, and as long as you get there before it finishes that's a-okay too. It probably won't go much past 1 AM November 1.

Location:
509 Olive Street, Santa Cruz.
If you can get to Bay and Mission, it's towards the UC campus from there. You can either turn left on King, then right on Olive, or left on Kenneth (I think), then left on Olive. It's an orangey-mangoy-pastely-colored house. It's the color of mango lassi, to be specific.

A note about street parking: I believe you need a permit after two hours or so. I don't know of other parking nearby.
We do have an area where you can put your bike, if that's how you get here, and it'll be protected both from thieves and the rain.
There are a limited number of power outlets. I may be able to set up a power strip or two, though. In general, try to charge your devices if any before you get here.
There effectively won't be internet access.
There are steps (about two) up to every entrance. So it's basically not wheelchair accessible.
Nearby busses include: 12 13 15 16 19 40 41 and one or two that I'm forgetting. I think mostly only the 16 runs at that hour though. Maybe the 19. If you take either of those, get off at Bay and King, turn onto King (if facing the UC campus, this would be to your left), turn left on Oilve, then walk to the house.

Re: what is the Westside. As I understand it, it's Santa Cruz west of the San Lorenzo River. It's the part of Santa Cruz in which you can find UCSC, the Metro Center, etc. I live near the Mission Safeway and Longs (closer to Longs). You can't turn onto Olive from Mission, so don't even try.

I'll try to get there about 11. Anyone needing a lift from the other side of Santa Cruz, preferably near the Rite Aid on Soquel, let me know and I can give lifts (up to three people get seatbelts!). Thanks for hosting the party!
