Hey guys, one more week! I think we can all last one more week until the madness begins. :D But the grand question is this: What are you going to listen to while writing your novel? I know personally, that I'll probably listening to some hyper sounding Jpop music.

Would anybody like to be so bold as to listen to the same music as I?

^ I don't know if I will listen to your music but I will definately be listening to something besides the hum of my computer.

I will most certainly listening to the "Across the Universe" soundtrack....and possibly the golden oldies tape I found....and the radio too! it will be very musical.

(yay for my first post EVER!!!! :D )

When I'm NOT writing, I'll be listening to music by a plethora of wonderful musicians. When I am writing, I definitely won't be listening to any music at all. (Listening to music causes me to sing and dance. If I'm able to keep my fingers on my keyboard at all while listening to music, I'm liable to end up typing out the song's lyrics!)

Magic School Bus Massacre, of course! ;)

But seriously, I'll be listening to Sigur Ros since most of their songs fit into scenes I have in my head. (One more week until we can start writing... yay!) And I'll be listening to other music in foreign languages. I find it slightly less distracting than English-language songs.

Does anyone else have last.fm? Good way to spy on what other people are listening to, and also to keep track of what you listen to, of course. http://www.last.fm is where you get it, and mine is here: http://www.last.fm/user/jenthesuperone.

I have a list of playlists that I use -- "Writing Music: Sad", "Writing Music: Dramatic", "Writing Music: Various" and one smart playlist that encompasses them all. (I need a "Writing Music: Triumphant", which isn't quite the same as 'dramatic' *is OCD*) I can't listen to anything with words because singing along takes me out of my writing mode, and that includes Japanese, so my anime music stays off the list. (Though some of the instrumental themes are there in "Sad".)

Basically what goes on those lists are various classical pieces that evoke strong feeling; instrumental movie soundtracks (Lord of the Rings is a good one); certain anime themes (like the sad piece in Naruto that plays when SPOILER SPOILERS or when you think SPOILER is SPOILER); and Disney movie background music. The Matrix also has some darn cool dramatic music that I steal a lot.

I've never used last.fm just because online radio and I have never really caught on. My tastes tend to be extremely esoteric and I've rarely found radio stations that match that. I've done some poking around on this one, however, and it looks as though it actually has a huge selection. Hm...

I have a feeling this going to be a punky and bloozy Nano. Some Clash, Los Straitjackets, George Thorogood and what have you. Probably a lot of old blues too.
