Just wondering if anyone wanted to start up our own little kick off party, since we don't seem to have an ML. Or am I the lone Reading-ite?

I live just over the county border, so I'm technically in Chester, but Reading's close by and we get Reading phonebooks at my house. ;) Anyway ... I'm heading over to a kick-off party in Lancaster, alas, but if you're interested in having a meetup sometime later in the month, I am totally down. I know there are a couple of other people floating around the edges of their counties, too. Browse around the forums for nearby counties, because they're tiny in PA and people might already be meeting pretty close to you.

I don't really know what counties are close to Reading or where anything around here even is for that matter. I'm up here for college and haven't really gone exploring. But thanks for the tips!

Cole,

Some of us are trying to get together for a write-in on Sat. Nov 3 at the Uptown Cafe in Kutztown if you're near there. Was thinking maybe 10am.

There's a Kutztown University thread in the Lehigh Valley Regional Forum which I've been trying to keep updated.

Best!

Hey Cole!

I'm L. This is my fifth year doing NaNo. I'd like to welcome you to the Reading area (I've lived near Oley my entire life, which is sort of between Reading and Kutztown and impossibly small. XD)

Reading, for the record, is in Berks county, which doesn't have a thread (o_O Mostly because you either live in Kutztown or Reading...). I'm a Berks-County-Wrimo, but everything I do is much closer to Montgommery County this year, so I'll be mostly hanging over there (we're lame. We have no write-ins scheduled. :D It's a big county.) But if you want to do meet-ups or write-ins, I'm pretty adventurous in Reading, and I'm game if you want to pick a place (I'm not so great at finding things in Reading, since I work and shop mostly in the opposite direction) and time.

So what college are you at? :D

And welcome to Reading. XD

Hey L.

This is my second year doing NaNo and I was in Reading last year too, but I didn't pay much attention to the write-ins or meet-ups then because there was just so much to do. I didn't even start writing until the last week (and was only short by 4,000 words).

My third year in Reading, and I still have no idea where anything is, except for the Bershire Mall, the school and the place where I work. It makes for a very boring area. But I'm up for travelling a bit to go to write-ins. My roommies aren't very good with leaving me alone long enough to actually write something out. I try and be quiet, they think I'm mad at them.

I'm at Alvernia.

And thanks!

Hahaha. The last time I saw a Reading meet-up was two years ago, and all of three of us showed up out of seven or eight who said they'd be there. ^^; So, I doubt you missed much last year. (I could be completely wrong, and the whole Reading cavalry will now show up to beat me senseless. :D )

Meanwhile, I don't know how your weekends look, but if you want to do a write-in, I can haul my laptop up to the Borders across from the Berkshire Mall quite easily. :D It'd be good for me to meet other wrimos in the area, to say the very least. ^^;

Besides, if you can't get any writing done with your roomies, then it's probably for the best to get you out to get your words done. XD

(And 46k in one week?! o__o Damn! I thought I was writing crazy psychotic wordcounts!)

I'm sure the Reading cavalry would be a bunch of scary people who would beat you down in a matter of second. Love to the scary Reading people. ^^

That sounds good because I know where that is and it's relatively easy for me to get to. We can set a day and invite people and I say we have a date.

Thankfully, I just dragged one of my roommates into the whole writing experience that is NaNoWriMo, and she's already pretty excited. So, that's a point in my corner. Yay me.

I had something from the beginning of the month, but I just wasn't getting into it, so I deleted it all and started over again at the end of the month and banged it all out then. It was the worst thing I have ever writen and was thankfully deleted when my computer crashed over the summer.

Gah, I hate that. I had something two years ago (my first stab at high fantasy) and it... didn't make it passed 4k in twelve days. >__> I wrote psychotic war photographers instead, and this was a piece of utter crap, but it was a lot of really witty, absurd crap. So I was happy with it. :D

Weekdays I get off work at 3PM, so I can make it up to Berkshire any time between 4PM and 6PM (if I stay out too late, I can't wake up for work in the morning. e_e; ), but weekends I'll make any amount of chaos for as long as possible. What's good for you and your roomie? :D

I'm paranoid about computer crashes (mostly because my laptop runs Vista. e_e; ), even when it's like, horrible terrible writing. o__o There's something about accidentally losing my work that just kills me (happens a lot, too. e_e; I misplace disks, storage devices, and chunks of harddrives off my tower all the freaking time. e_e; ) Not like I ... do anything about it, but... y'know. One day, maybe, I'll wise up. >__>;

I'll go see if anyone over in the Montgommery County chunk of the boards wants in on this at all. :D Luck to both you and your roomie!

I'm thinking this year will be some utter crap for me again. I have nothing but a name and a little tiny piece of information to go off of for my whole story. As far as I know, my roomie already has her whole story planned out in her head. So sad. hehe. I have nothing and she had her story planned out by the time I was done creating her account for her. And she was even making a lesson plan for her class on Thursday. Some people get all the luck.

My schedule with work is erratic at best, and the roomie goes home on the weekends. Actually, Tuesdays would probably be the best day for the both of us. She gets done work early and I have to be at the Berkshire Mall at 7 anyway for a dance class.

So this should be fun and I'm sort of excited to meet people around here who actually have a real passion for writing besides my professors. Fun times shall be had! Thanks!

Good luck to you as well!

XD I have characters and demons for them to kill, but not enough to fill 50,000 words. That's all right. I'll just keep telling myself to remember my first novel, which shot its plot in the foot because I planned it out too far ("Remember the space frogs" will be my litany this month. >__> ) and last year's where I kicked the wordcount in the teeth because I had only vague clues where anything was going. :D It was a good month.

Meanwhile, I can swing up to the Borders this coming Tuesday the 6th after work. :D I'll bring my laptop, hang out in the Cafe area, that way even if no one shows, it's not a complete waste of time. (^_~ It's happened to me before). I can be there around four, unless told otherwise by Monday.

I'm very excited to go to a meet-up again. o_o; Haven't meet-up'd in a long time.

Well, unless some earth shattering something comes my way such as flesh eating zombies, or attacking pirates out to kidnapp me and only me show up out of no where, I will most certainly meet you there. My roommate on the other hand, will be spending the day in the room where she can wait around for the phone to ring because it's her anniversary. She will not be joining us.

Hey everyone!

I'm duly associated with regions. Since my parents are divorced, I split my time between Wilkes-Barre and Reading (Muhlenberg Twp., actually, but you get the idea).

Anyhow, I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I don't know if I'll make it to any write-ins, but I did just want to say hi so you all know I exist.

Hi, and welcome.

Don't know where you will be spending next week, but on the 6th, Tuesday, if your interested, we're having a write-in at the book store across from the Berkshire Mall. I know you said you might not make it to any, but, thought I would let you know, just in case you are interested.

Redundant Hi and Welcome! ^^;

Yes, so far all two of us will be there Tuesday (hah.), but you're welcome to come if you're interested/can make it/etc.

Good to know there're other wrimos in the Reading area. o_o;

Best of luck writing! :D

So, since my intarwebs is being spazztic, and I'm not sure how much patience I'll have for it tomorrow beyond posting wcs, I figure I'll put this out here for you for Tuesday, those of you who might want to show up.

Remember, all two or three of us are meeting in the cafe in the Borders across from the Berkshire mall. I'll be up there around four, and I'll likely have my laptop with me (though it's only got like, two hours on the battery, so we'll see how that works out XD). I don't know how useful it'll be (since the cafe has chairs), but the first thing people notice about me is how freaking tall I am. The second is that I have short red hair (no, not like fireengine >__>) . Oh yes. And I'm a girl. XD

I don't know how many other people there'll be there fitting these qualifiers, but uh, I'll probably be writing (in the cafe? NO WAY O_O THE NOVELTY!) . Just feel free to wander up to me and ask if I'm L. Any imposters are probably from the Reading Cavalry. XD

Anyway, looking forward to seeing you, Cole, at the very least. And anyone else that feels like showing up. :D

<3 Til then!

Cole and L:

When are you meeting on Tuesday? Looks like ixris (L?) said 4...

I work in West Reading but live in York.

If you set up more times... Lunch time is good. I can't do weekends -- those I'll have to look closer to home. But anyway...

Hi, John!

Yes, I'm L. ^^; And I'll be at the Borders from four til about six, depending how many show up and when/if my laptop decides it has had enough battery power for me. XD

I can't do lunchtime. I'm all the way out in Boyertown (o_o) which can be a good forty minute drive sometimes, but get out of work at three (unless, like today, my supers tell me that yeah, no, you're going somewhere else to work the afternoon. e_e; ). Unfortunately, I'm the only one that can do weekends around here. XD; But I can do weekdays after three, too, so I mean, yeah. XD

But don't let meets hinge on me. If you guys are interested and want to network and taunt each other and discuss plots and there's a time that works well, go for it. :D

Hope to see you there tomorrow! If not, maybe sometime later in the month. ^^

Considering this migraine WILL go away by tomorrow!! I will definetly be there. Unless of course, my brain exploads from lack of plot.. or the Reading Cavalry gets to me first. You never know with those folks.

But yes, I'll be there around four, if not sooner. I already know that I will be wearing dark grey sweatpants since I have a dance class right after the meet up, and wellness (gym) a bit before. I'm on the short side and at the moment, bleached hair with tints of pink. So I'm noticeable. I'll probably have my laptop with me too and have the shifty eyes thing going on cause I'll be waiting for the Cavalry to sneak attack me... or you know, if I'm there first, I'll be waiting for someone else to get there before I can even bring myself to get started on something.

Hey John!

We are meeting at about four, but if earlier would be more convenient for you, I'm free from anytime after 11 on Tuesdays. I have the rest of the day off and don't mind making several trips around the city, if I know where I'm going.

As for any other time, my schedule with school and work thrown in is a little hectic. I'm always off from work on Tuesdays, but the rest of the week is always a last minute thing. Lately I've only been working Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays though, with two hours thrown in on Wednesdays. So, I'm flexible around work and classes if you ever want to set something up?

Hey if you guys could keep me informed, I might be able to go catch up with you some time. I'm right behind Albright.

Might head over to Borders anyway. I want to see if they have a book I've been looking for.

Heck in reality I just need to get out of the house for a bit.

Sorry we missed you, NobleGhost. Hope to see you sometime, though. :D John and Cole and I were all three there, armed with laptops, furiously churning out words. o_o; It's pretty intimidating sitting at a table with people typing all around you and your brain keels over and DIES. XD

Anyway, yes, imo meet-up/write-in was a nice shiny success, and definitely want to do it again. Work for me ends every day at 3PM (unless the authoritative people tell me otherwise, at the last freaking minute), and my weekends are totally and completely free, but it takes me forty minutes to drive into Reading (not that I'm opposed to making that trip. ^^ Is good quiet time for my brains. :D).

Anyone up for another round? Offers/suggestions for places to go? :D Times? Days? XD Anything?

Also, good thing I was there first, because I don't check the boards between midnight and three-thirty-PM if I'm not going anywhere right away. I never would've known Cole for Cole if she were there first. XD;

Sorry we missed you. Maybe next time, since it seems like there probably will be a next time. Tonight was loads of fun and it would be even loads MORE fun if more people were there.

Tonight was definetly a success imo. I got more writen in the two hours there then I did in the five das prior to it. Good enough for me.

Hope to see you there next time. And feel free to leave a message here if you ever want to randomly meet up. I check the boards pretty much once an hour during the day.

I think it was a great success - I've never done a write-in and wondered what the protocol would be for talking vs. writing, and so forth, but Cole and L were a lot of fun to write with. We wrote, and noticed when we were staring into space, and filled it in with a little talk til the muses came back from break.

And no Reading authorities came to stop us!

How about next Tuesday? I know it's a bit of a drive L, but maybe worth it. And maybe we can get a few more to join us next time...

I'm game for next Tuesday. :D It will give me an "Uh. Can't stay. Have plans." to tell my bosspeople again.

Also, considering I only have 2 hours on my laptop's battery, 4-6 seems the likely venue for me.

Besides, like I said. The drive's kind of therapeutic for me. Half an hour or so of just me and my musics. :D Totally looking forward to it. ^^;

*wave* I live in the Pottstown area. I would love to take part in a write in, though I do not have a laptop (I would have to come with handy pen and paper notebook in hand.) Where did you (we?) decide? Tuesday at Berkshire Mall? Please give the details again, and I am going to try to make it. Also, what time? 4PM or 7PM start? I wish everyone great luck in acheiving goals (not just 50,000 words) this Nano 2007! :)

We're going to meet at the Borders across from the Berkshire mall, if you are still interested in attending. And having a pen and a handy dandy notebook always sounds like a good idea. I usually carry mine around with me everywhere but I cleaned out my purse and it hasn't made it's way back in again.

Anyway, we'll meet at the Borders around 4 pm in the cafe. And I'm sure I speak for all of us who are attending, we hope to see you there!
