So, being a bad ML, I went and scheduled something for Nov 1. (Look, I'm sorry, but Gaelic Storm will not reschedule their Denver concert for us! *sigh*) So I thought I'd propose a Friday, Nov 2 kick-off meet-up. Besides, Fridays tend to be a little more likely than Thursdays, right?
How about meeting upstairs at Cafe Play on Friday, Nov 2, at 7:00 PM?
(Thats two doors north of the Fox Theater on 13th Street.)
I thought maybe a cafe instead of a restaurant might be nice so that no one feels like they have to "buy in." The place stocks Udi's sandwiches and salads if you're hungry (and if you're hungrier, there's lots of options in the neighborhood), coffee and soda and such if you're not, and since there'd be a group of us, as long as some of us are eating/drinking something I don't think they'd mind if some people didn't buy anything at all. So it's a good fit for all budgets. And it's not middle of the night on a weekday like the kick-off at my place is. Also, it's brightly lit and full of comfy sofas and chairs. And wi-fi. And you can rent time on the Wii by the hour. I can't think of a better way of getting to know your fellow NaNos than doubles tennis on the Wii. :-)
Anyone interested?

I may be showing up for this! It sounds like a lovely way to get some writer support and enjoy some time on the Wii. Whee!
Will there be a secret handshake or something so we know who we're meeting?

I do have this T-shirt they sent me in my second year as an ML. It's hi-lighter yellow and it says "Yes, I am in charge here." It also mentions NaNoWriMo. I could wear it, even though it's totally lying about the being in charge thing. Maybe I'll get off my butt and print up some of the posters available from this site.
I've also put my photo on my member page. I think you can just click my forum handle to see it.
I plan to be upstairs on the couches.

Hi, everyone! I will do my best to be there. I'll be the middle-aged housewife carrying a laptop and looking totally freaked out. You can't miss me. :o)

Ah, Day-Glo colors are quite easily spotted and that would be helpful.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone! I'll be wearing tie dye most likely, so if anyone sees a confused looking girl in a homemade shirt, wave me over.

I'll also tell the folks at the counter downstairs about our little meet-up. So they should be able to help point y'all in the right direction.
If you've never been, Cafe Play can be a little tricky to spot at first because the door is set a little back from the street, leaving room for a small patio. On the same side of the street as The Fox, about two doors north, look for the dark brick wall with the round sign bearing the "steaming coffee cup that suspiciously resembles a smiley face" logo.

Thanks for the little clarification on the exact whereabouts of the Cafe, Niki. I drove by there with the intention to stop in and say hi to a friend about three weeks ago and for the life of me couldn't find it! So I went home because my friend didn't realize I was going to stop by anyway!
Now I know where it is though. Ha ha! I won't be fooled again!
I think I will get there a little earlier than 7 so I can get some writing in before I have to get out of there around 7:30 to make it to Lafayette for a show. But hey! If anyone is in Lafayette, stop by Cannon Mine Coffee around 8:00pm and write to the ecclectic music of WadiRum, my favoritest (is too a word!) local band ever, I will be there singing along quietly as I try to concentrate on writing.

I'll be there. First timer. Black Miami-Dade Firefighter long-sleeve shirt, carrying a composition book and a CAUTION: NOVELISTS AT WORK flyer on a stand. Got to find parking nearby and walk a few blocks up the hill. - Andy

I work in Boulder, so laid over at a friend's place for dinner and entertainment (because I live in Northglenn). Well, we were hanging out and he kept saying 'it's almost over'... that was actually over around 10:30! :(
It's eating me up inside, because now I'm a damn liar. So... I want to know if there is a guilty get-together that can happen, same place, 5pm, Tuesday? Anyone?

Apparently loud video games and live country/folk music didn't put tonight's novelists off their muses, because words got written and people started asking "So, next week? Same time?" Yeah, sure, next week same time! Friday nights at Cafe Play are now on the calendar as a recurring event.
We had Sarah and Keith and Rachel (with moral support in tow) and Mongoose and someone else whose name I have shamefully mentally misplaced. (It started with a K/C sound.) Also, as it turns out, the venue is tolerant of outside food seeing as how they had no sandwiches in stock. I got a sub from Which Wich, which was yummy.

1) Release the guilt. It is not useful. Give it to your character instead and let them have a nice long guilt-ridden monologue.
2) Cafe Play Fridays are now recurring, and Keith's Burnt Toast Tuesdays are a-go. I put them down for 7 to 9 (hours may change depending on Keith's preference), but If you wanna be there at 5, I can be there at 5. I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile.
3) No, really, don't worry about it! I mean it!

Most excellent. Being I'm done with work by 4:30, can park without a ticket in IBS areas after 5pm, I will probably be doing burnt toast on tuesday early. For now, I have the Northglenn event to worry about in 11 hours. I have to get some writing done!

URGENT NOTICE!
Tonight, Friday 11/9, Cafe Play is CLOSING AT 10 pm!
No word yet on whether they'll be back to the midnight hour next week or whether 10 PM is the new closing time. They're sorta feeling out the schedule. The 10-Midnight hours have not been profitable enough on Fridays and Saturdays to justify the OPEN sign.
Tonight! To accommodate those who were planning to come tonight, we'll be migrating to Brewing Market @ Baseline after Cafe Play closes. No guarantees for next week though.

Cafe Play closes at 10 tonight, too. So, see y'all from 7 to 10.
I'll be there! And I'll be writing! A lot! I got like 3 days ahead on NaNo so I can Get This Dang Freelance Project Finish Finally AARRRRGH! So I'll probably do a lot of smiling and nodding from under my headphones.
Update: So, Andy was here when I got here at 6:30. We waved at each other. Around 7:45 a whole bunch of kids showed up to play Guitar Hero. Life is now much more noisy. I persevere, however.
