I don't mean to overload people with dates and what have you, but I'm thinking about posting a possible date for our first write-in for NaNo 2007 (along with feedback and comments/criticism). Sadly, I haven't gotten any official NaNoWriMo memorabilia in the mail yet, and I won't be able to hand any out to you all for the kick-off party. However, if we have our first write-in within the first week of November, I should have received the stickers and tattoos by then and will be able to hand them out for all to enjoy before the month is over.

I would really like to have Bookmans for our first write-in night. The date I was considering was Monday, November 5th, at ~5:00 PM until whenever we decide to leave (or when Bookmans closes). I realize that it's a 'school night' for many of you, so starting at 5:00 would give you enough time to get quite a bit written without having to stay into the late hours of the night, and you could leave whenever you need to.

If there are any strong objections to this time and date, please let me know. Otherwise, I'd like to get an estimate as to how many people think they could make it. Thanks!

Yes, I can definitely make that. Hopefully I won't be too drugged up anymore after getting my wisdom teeth removed the previous Thursday and can use the time to make up the wordcount I most likely will have lost as a result. ^^;

...weren't we talking about doing two write-ins a week? I can't remember when the second one was supposed to be, though...Hm.

We could do two write-ins a week, but it might get too hectic, and the chances of me attending all of them would drop. If you all can arrange to make approximately 8 write-ins over the month, then we could work it out. I know I'll be needing the support, so I could perhaps make all or most of the dates happen, as long as we plan them in advance.

I gotta coach kiddos until 6pm on M/T, but could probably make it over later, homework permitting.

What I was thinking is that if we do two write-ins a week, we can try to make sure at least one of us is there for each one, and can trade off as we see fit. For example, if you want to take Monday off due to a project from hell, but are free for Friday or whatever, I could cover you Monday and take Friday off. Or something.

Ooh, that sounds good. As long as one of us is there, it should work out peachy keen ;) I'll be able to come to nearly all of the weekday night ones for at least an hour +, just a little fyi ^_^

Alright! Conversely, I'll be able to hang out at Bookmans until around 6 PM... :( But I'm sure most of everyone else will be staying until around 7, if you want to comes when you finish coaching.

Well, I've made the commitment to come to every write in for three hours 5-8, even if it kills me, so no worries, guys. Haha. If all else fails, I'll just work on the 'project from hell' during the write in time. That's what laptops are for, right? ;D Besides, I'm an English major. All we ever do is papers, and half the time they give us a ridiculous ammount of time to do them.

So...
See you guys monday! I'm so excited!

EDIT: Oh, and I think we decided fridays would be the second write in days.

Well, drat. My wife and I are heading up to Flagstaff this weekend for a little get-away, and I thought I'd check to see if anyone was planning on gathering at the Bookman's there on Saturday night.

We always have to stop in at the Bookman's whenever we get into Flagstaff. Being from Tucson, where Bookman's started, we really like the store. Besides, it's also right next to Cedar Music, my favorite music store in all of Arizona (I'm an old fogey flute student, and Cedar has one of the best selections of flute music I've seen).

I'm not sure what time we'll visit Bookman's, but I just thought I'd check in to see if anything was planned. It would have been cool to meet up with some WriMo folks from the other end of the state.

Hoomi, I would love to come! I wasn't planning a weekend one because I know it's difficult for a lot of people to make it. But I will definitely try to make it there. I need all the help I can get and would like to meet some more NaNoers from across the state as well. If you want to lock-in a time, I can post it on the events section. Kind of like an unofficial write-in/gathering. What say you to that?

I can come on Saturday as well since people seem to be interested. Any particular time people prefer? It's great to see that so many people are interested this year. It makes me really excited.

Oh, and by the way, Happy Halloween everyone! Remeber, you can start writing as early as midnight tonight!

Okay I'm thinking we'll have a Write-in Meet #1a on Saturday. I don't know how many people will show up, but I'll be able to make it (and Steph/Wraithsshdw, at least)? Whooo I'll add it to the events in just a minute :)

Be safe everyone, and you all better be up at midnight!

I was trying to plan a midnight chatroom party for all of us, but I don't think that will happen because everyone's schedules are all wacky, since it's Halloween. Whoever turns up online, I will contact >D

Ooooh, hello! Is there another name you would like us to call you by? Welcome to the Flagstaff regional board!

I'm looking forward to seeing you at the write-ins! Maybe on Saturday or Monday?

Well, I'll still technically count as a Tucson participant, but as much as I enjoyed meeting some of my fellow local WriMo'ers this evening at our kick-off party, it'd be neat to meet up with other writers for at least a few minutes this weekend.

I'm not sure what our plans will be this weekend, but as far as I know we'll be wide open on Saturday. My biggest thing will be making it the Bookman's center during the hours that Cedar Music is open, since their hours are considerably shorter than Bookman's. Let me check Cedar's hours at their website either this evening or tomorrow, and we'll bounce the ideas from there.

Between Bookman's and Joann next door, my wife can kill a decent amount of time herself. My personal goal is to do as I did last year, and to finish my novel on my birthday three weeks from tomorrow. For that, I hope to have at least a couple of the chapters done before this weekend, and I'll likely be typing away in the motel room after my better half has fallen asleep.

Edit: Looks like Cedar Music is open from 10 - 4 on Saturday, so that would be the most likely time frame for being there. We're staying at the Ramada Express just off I-40, so it won't be like we're too far out of the way, but since this weekend is about getting away with my terrific wife, I don't want to end up running off at too odd of time. She's already joking about being a Novel Widow (I did get her the WriMo t-shirt for the Novel Widows among us), so I don't want to push it too much.

I arranged for a write-in/gathering at 5:00 at Bookmans, but I think we could be flexible and change it according to when you would rather it be. I just got the NaNoWriMo stickers in, so that's definitely exciting to be sure. They're so adorable! Just let me know some time this morning or afternoon, so I can send out a mass email : )

haha, I just got in my order of stickers, too. I didn't think I'd get them what with the errors going on in ML land right now, but it seems everything's going through ok right now. =D They're amazing, btw! I love the word count ones. You'll all get to see what we mean, too. But only if you come to the write ins so we can give them to you. *huggles all our nanoers*

And let us know when you guys want to come on saturday. I'll come, but I have to know when!

Bookman's at 5:00 PM on Monday is okay, but I won't be in until later since I'm not off work until 6:00 PM (most of my writing this time around will be early morning). But Bookman's will also be a good resort on weekends, both for the caffeine fix and to feed the herd instinct - there is safety in numbers (remember that when your word count is low). But this is November so for the entire month I'm going to assume anyone I see writing longhand on a pad or typing on anything is a fellow Wrimo.

I do believe I might crash your party at Bookman's tomorrow, if y'all don't mind. :) I'm a Phoenix Nano-er, but I too decided to retreat to Flagstaff for the weekend in an attempt to get away from some distractions. I will try to find Bookman's. If I succeed, I will see you all there tomorrow! :)

I should be able to stop by around 5 or so.

Hopefully the WiFi is better at Bookman's than it is here at the Ramada.

I enjoyed meeting those of you who were able to show up for the write-in this evening. I don't think I managed more than a few dozen words during that time, but a quiet evening here at the hotel was conducive to some decent progress.

I'll keep checking back in with this group, and hope to see loads of fun and success from y'all.

Thanks for the get-together!

Hope to see all of you again on Monday!
