In addition to the Old Cal. Cafe in San Marcos, I wanted to suggest The Valley Buzz in Oceanside. It's small, but I think it would be a good place for write ins because the owners are friendly, it's quiet, it has outlets and free wi-fi, and the coffee (and food, and ice cream, etc.) rock. The address is:
3846 Mission Avenue #A1
Oceanside, CA 92058
760-757-8977
They are at the corner of Mission Ave and El Camino Real, just north of the 76.
Just a thought!
Best of luck on The Beginning of Your Novel, everyone! :)

Cool! Is it quiet like near-silent so people can read, or just calm? I've been thinking OCC's chatty vibe would work for bringing the Tiny One occassionally... Anyone know a good spot to sit and write(that's NOT Java Mama way down south?) (doesn't have to be a coffee house) with a baby? she can sit in high chairs now (well, for a while) so that opens up options at cafes etc. (that's NOT Java Mama way down south?) Also, if anyone's interested in mid-week write-ins someplace I could bring Sophie (including parks and my house, LOL), I'd be down with that.

The buzz place sound great! Anyone up for a Sunday Write-In there? I don't have play performances on Sundays for a while, so I'd like to make it if I can.

It's near silent because most people get their coffee and leave. Also near-empty. ;)
I have work this Sunday until 1pmish but I could maybe might be at The Buzz after that. Not officially in charge or anything, mind you. I just need to kick in the pants with writing, and ready access to good espresso drinks. If you do show up at The Buzz anytime, though, I'll be the chick in the dorky cowboy hat there.

I'd like to participate. Got the place: The Valley Buzz. Got the day: Sunday, November 4.

So what time??

For future possiblilites, the upstairs room at:
Hill Street Coffee House
524 S. Coast Hwy
Oceanside, CA 92054
760-966-0985

If you're ordering coffee and food while up there, and you do it later in the afternoons, say, 4pm, it's a great room: quiet, a balcony, comfy big table, about a dozen chairs, outlets. Don't know if they have wi-fi...

Thank you!

Next write in will take place on Old Cal on Saturday at 2. Unfortunately, I have to go out of town for that weekend and will not be there physically, but in spirit! :)

I'll be there. Hope there's a good crowd of writing buddies.
