Hi, everyone.
I'm one of the Municipal Liaisons for Fort Collins, Colorado. I noticed that many of you appear to be the only writer in your area, and because of that there aren't too many planned events. Well, I know we're a bit of a drive, but I just wanted to let you know we'd be happy to have you at any of our events if you happen to find yourself in our neck of the woods.
We have a Kick-Off Party (and midnight write-in) planned for October 31st, we're going to have a write-in every day of the week, and even a 12-hour writing marathon on Black Friday. In early December we'll have a TGIO party to celebrate the end. Any of you are welcome to join us for these events. Details can be found in our events calendar.
Happy writing!

Simmon also contacted me and asked that I invite you over to Utah as well.
We're in Ogden, but we have no ML here. So I'm writing as the "unofficial" ML for Ogden. We're having a kickoff (actually, I'm showing up to buy myself coffee and a laptop space) at Kaffe Mercantile at 26th and Harrison in Ogden, Utah at 8 am on Thursday, Nov 1.
They have free wireless, great coffee and pastries, and since I'll be there, great company.
Those of you in the Evanston/Star Valley area who want to make the drive over, you're welcome. We don't often get many at our Ogden NaNoWriMo events, so we'd be happy to have the company.

Hi there,
Since Wyoming doesn't have an ML, I have reserved a room for Saturday write-ins in Casper. Do you have any suggestions on what else I need to do to make it better for everyone? The rooms are upstairs in a new Casper book store. They have an Expresso/Tea bar with scones available for sale downstairs in the main bookstore. There are several tables and chairs in one room and soft cushy couches and chairs in the other room with lots of plug ins. We can bring in brown bag lunches or take-out.
I also have the rooms reserved for Saturday, Dec 1 for a "Whew! We did it!" celebration.
How are you doing your write ins? Does everyone bring their own food and drinks? Are you supplying it? What about a celebration party? All suggestions are greatly appreciated. This is my first year participating, but I did notify the newspapers and TV and they did a short blurb and articles for me.
Thanks for your help and suggestions!

We have a large group here in Fort Collins, with varying schedules. This year we have a write-in scheduled every day of the week in different parts of town. Some of them are at restaurants/coffee shops, and others not. If we're meeting at a place of business, we encourage everyone to order something. If we're meeting someplace else (library, student lounge, someone's home), people generally bring their own food/drink. I provide tea at the write-ins at my house, but not much else.
Sometimes it's good to have a meet-up (instead of a write-in) so people can just socialize, while taking a short break from their novels. Last year we went to see Stranger Than Fiction when it came out (conveniently) in the middle of November.
The TGIO (Thank Goodness It's Over) party, as we call it, has happened in various places. Two years ago it was at the community center of someone's apartment complex. Last year it was at our house. Both of these were potlucks. For a smaller smaller group, a restaurant, bar, or coffee shop would also be fine.

Simmon is a very busy person, apparently. :D
My name is Chris and I'm one of the MLs for the SLC region of Utah. Simmon pointed out that you all are spread out all over without a coordinating ML so if you'd like to come down to SLC we'd love to have you.
We had our kick off party last Saturday but we will have a TGIO party at the end as well as weekly writing get togethers at the Salt Lake City Library in one of the meeting rooms.
Just 10.5 more hours until pen to paper time!
