I don't want a horror based response on genearl ideals of vampries' capabilities for that isn't how I write, I try to base my writing in real life and then tilt that left and right to get my slanted view of the world.
I'm not finding the answers no matter how I dig and considering the short time I'm under and no one I know (including my support team) know for sure the answer I need. I simply need to know if, in today's work enviroment if say a vampire could work the night shift at a city's Crime Scene Lab? Even if I have to stretch the severity of Photodermatitis (which I don't seem to be able to get around) would thus be possible if the person looked, for all purposes Human?
Since I've tended to in the past writings avoided this I am seem to keep coming back to this, no matter how much I try to steer my muse away from this line of work. Also I tend to write what I avoid, or the opposite of what I believe others would do, what people are thinking to be next and since I haven't seen or heard of a vampire forensic dude and I'm a fan of the shows I just might be able to pull it off even if I have to limit the actual scenes with the character on the job.
I really need some suggestions, advice here since my mind is starting to clamp up on this and not letting me move on from it so I'd throughly be rejoyced if you could promptly kick my butt up and over this hurdle.
In advanced, THANK YOU all you wonderful, stunning incredibly creative intelligent peoples you. :)

as per my opinion. this is highly possible if he were in a private practice rather than in the force itself. maybe you could make him a private csi (detective) that the police consult to. that way, you could have a nice little hate-you dynamic with one officer, a love hate with some other and a mystery around him that many want to uncover. haha. that's just my thoughts.

*laughing* I'm thinking that a private firm is more likely to higher one with such a "medication condition" rather then me having to stretch the real life limits to something I'm not comfortble with. Though I'm starting to worry and have brain freeze since I have no experience or knowledge to draw upon nor do I have a lot of time (even within November) to research to get the jargon right so I sort of have to rely on the shows and what not to provide some help till the editing time comes - if ever.
I just found out, while complaining in my Lj that what I am writing is a mystery! Lo 'n behold a half summer of reading nothing but Butcher and Lukyanenko has apparently rubbed off subconciously! *lmao*
This ideal, or rather the seeds of this idea was inspired by Blood Ties & Moonlight that are based around what you mentioned which I'm basically retelling just in my twisted world's version and rules - which tends to be a darker place. I have relented to not having the MC be the vampire, though now I'm not exactly sure of the characters this idea is turning out to be more driven by a loose plot then anything I've writen before.
I still think I'm going to go with the CSI angle just because there must be a reson my mind keeps throwing it back at me so... *shrugs*
Hope I'm not making a big mistake! A vampire csi -- *rolls eyes* what's next a werewolf hair dresser .... na-a-a....
thanks.
