Would the folks further south be interested in a Newport News gathering location? There is a Panera Bread and a Barnes & Noble right up the street from me (Jefferson Commons and Patrick Henry Mall, respectively). I'd love to make the Richmond gatherings, but my schedule just can't cope with the travel time. *sighs*

I'd love to get over that way once this month. If you can find other Newport News people, and hold a write-in on a Saturday (or other days; just not Sunday), then I'll try to go, and I'll bring a couple goodies, too. ; )

Here's my problem. I don't have a laptop and, since I so seldom do it anymore, writing by hand gives me writer's cramp in very short order. Plus I have to transcribe later, all time losses for me.
Still, I'd kind of like to meet folks at least once. I don't drink coffee so Starbucks doesn't appeal--plus they look kind of smallish from the outside--but the Jefferson Avenue B&N would be fine, and the Jefferson Greens (I think) Panera's would be okay.

I'm open to either location, although I think Panera's might prefer we buy some food from them in order to meet there. At least with B&N I know I'm going to be walking out with books no matter what! ^_~ *grin*
I'll see if I can't get my laptop working if you'd like to borrow it for a write-in sometime. (Sven has overheating problem at the moment, but he's due for surgery this weekend *cracks knuckles*) But even if you just want to swing by and say hi, I’d love to put a meet-up together! I’m always fascinated by the plots and characters that other folks come up with… half the fun of NaNo for me is getting to share the mad dash of creative insanity with others! ^_^
Does Saturday work for you? I'm open to time/date suggestions, as I have no prior commitments this NaNo expect for Thanksgiving.

If folks are interested, I'm more than willing to gather wherever and whenever they like. My weekends are pretty free (except for Thanksgiving) and writing somewhere other than I normally do is a nice break! ^_^

Sorry for the delay in responding. Couldn't get on the site!
Saturday or Sunday will work for me, noonish to 6 p.m. best (except this coming Saturday I think I'm going to be in Portsmouth in the morning). I prefer Barnes & Noble. I am soooooooo broke. I won't be tempted to buy books, and I won't have to buy food.

Sorry for the delay! The websites been a bit wonky for me as well. :P
Will a 2-4pm window work? I've been meaning to get up and out of the house to try and get some good writing in so I was thinking of dedicating that time for the rest of the month's Staurdays (except for Thanksgiving as I'll be in Buffalo, NY).

Okay, if I understand aright, you're proposing to be at the Newport News Barnes & Noble each Saturday, except Thanksgiving weekend, from 2 to 4 p.m. That sounds good to me. I might be a little late this Saturday as I will be in Portsmouth in the morning, but I will show.
How will we find each other? (Aside from that mad, writerly gleam in our eyes.)

Well I shall bring my stuffed Kookaburra (as he's rather appropriate) and I'll see if I can't rig together an NaNoWriMo Insanity Zone sign! ^_~ *grin*
Stuffed animals and possible signage aside, I shall be sitting in the cafe in my favorite red writing sweater with a white 3-ring binder with 'Dogs of the Never Never' logo on it. ... and most likely complaining to anyone who will listen about the darned Dogs and their refusal to plot properly. ^_~

Okay. Sounds good. I'll look for you in the B&N cafe. I'll probably be wearing a long-sleeved black tee OR a dark gray sweatshirt, depending on temperatures.

Looks like Martha and I will be in the B&N (NN) cafe tomorrow (Sat 11/10), starting around 2. Maybe you can join us.

I'd love to meet with both of you but I found out today that I have to watch my little cousin tomorrow the tenth so I don't think I'll be able to make it. Please let me know when you meet again. I'd like to go. Thanks and happy noveling!
