howdy! :)
some of you may have heard of the NaNoWriMo Report Card. for those who haven't, now you have! :)
it's an amazing Excel spreadsheet that has been circulating for years, and was created by Erik Benson. it tracks everything for you. words written per day, hours spent writing for the month, average words for hour. it even tracks your morale! and everything is laid out for you on nifty charts, bar graphs and pie charts. I've used it every year I've done NaNo. and it's so much fun to watch as it computes your estimated completion date (and strive to make sure it lands somewhere before the end of the year *grin*).
here's the link to the Excel file. it's been updated for 2007. if anyone has any trouble downloading it, let me know and I'll email it to you.
Adrienne

Thanks!! I had a bad night last night (only 966 words...darn my cold!!), so maybe this will pep me up and make me have better nights ;)

It's nice to see "2007" on there as opposed to "2005". I'm glad I've finally got the updated copy. :P

My trial version of Excel just expired so although the file will open, it won't accept any new data. I tried to open with the Microsoft Works free spreadsheet program but it wouldn't work. Maybe the Google spreadsheet stuff is compatible.

Well the main part of the report card (the calculations section) opens up nicely when uploaded to Google documents (take that MicroShaft). I just don't get the graphs, pie charts or the extra pages that aren't really necessary. At least I can still track my progress data.

I use OpenOffice and have for YEARS. I love it and it opens MS spreadsheets and documents just fine. You might consider trying that.
