Some of the other more spread out regions are setting up chatrooms. They are free but ad sponsored. I was just wondering if there is any plan on doing this for Japan. It seems like a good way to waste time..

What's the point, this isn't a chatfest, it's a novel writing event. Chat some other time you lazy gits.

It's probably too late now, but I think it's a bit harsh to call people 'lazy gits' for inquiring about a chat room. Novelists don't have to be isolated, lonely, alcoholics to succeed in life, you know?
Community cohesion is the core of NaNoWriMo. It's the point of the whole event! The community supports us, sets our deadlines, gives us advice, leaves us room to vent - without it, many writers might not reach their goal. I, for one, think a chat room is a great idea. And to anyone who disagrees... :P

The chatrooms are actually really handy, because people talk about plot twists and give each other ideas and boosts, and there are 'word wars', which spur you to write. If you don't need that, DNA, lucky you! But it's a help for some.
