OK, for those of you with strange obligations like jobs that keep you out of Mel's Place in the a.m., here's another kickoff party!

Nov. 1
7ish-8:30ish p.m. (they close at 9)
Java Station
4447 Hollister, unincorporated area. On Hollister, 1 block west (toward I.V.) of Modoc
They can give you better directions at 681-0202.

This is indeed an all-ages event. The first batch of NaNoWriMo swag (i.e., the interesting gizmos NaNo Central gives me to entice people to attend events and to advertise NaNoWriMo and to remind you that you're taking part etc.) will be available!

Ask at the counter where we are, or if you're early nail down a good spot. I'll be highly noticeable in my bright yellow/green (dare I say chartreuse?) official Municipal Liaison T-shirt, size extra huge (watch for the tent with a head).

Writing is planned but not required. Halloween candy may be available. Wanna trade?

I'm an idiot and scheduled to present somewhere else right then without realizing what tomorrow was... otherwise I'd go! I'll probably show up there from like 5:30-6:30 or so anyhow and write.

Coffee and Nanowrimo-what a great combination. I'm looking forward to it.

I have no candy but I'll gladly take any unwanted chocolate 8D!

I will try to be there! I might need a ride back to campus since my roommate likes to watch shows at a certain time (and she drives me) ;;;; but I don't know just yet. I'll be there a little late since my first pass time for registering for winter quarter is at 7 xD;; as soon as I sign up for my classes, then I'm making her drive me over :3 can't wait!

See you there!

By the way - what about doing something at Java Station in the AM some day? They open at 6AM, so there's time to get some writing in!

Oh no! I've been thinking about nanowrimo all day and I totally forgot about a meeting I have tomorrow night. I'll have to wait till the next one. I'd be up for mornings at the coffee shop too.

I'm glad to see all the enthusiasm and suggestions surrounding this kickoff. Remember, it's a KICKOFF--LOTS of write-ins and other events to follow. Post where you'll be and when in the "Write-ins" forum (the earlier you post, the more company you'll get). I might let that be the default "Calendar of events" depending on how quickly the site starts working (or doesn't).

Java Station is very busy in the early a.m., but I don't know if it's only in and out traffic or people who stay. Trial and error will tell. I also like Goleta Coffee Shop (or whatever its name is--in the shopping center at Hollister and Turnpike). I'd like to see people posting a variety of their favorite locations, to get a variety.

Just a comment - most of the people who come into Java Station in the mornings just get a cup of coffee and run out. The people who stay are usually writers and college students, so we'll fit in well :)

There's a bus stop directly across the street from Java Station that'll get you back to UCSB, if all else fails... :)

If I haven't collapsed of exhaustion, I'll try to be there. If I have, well, then see you all next time.

Yep, starting NaNoWriMo with a whimper ;-)

D; I lied, I won't be able to come. I've been getting sicker and sicker and I've been really dizzy lately ;;;; (almost fell up the stairs on the way back to her room) hopefully I'll make it to another one tho! D; sorry! Have fun, everyone!
