Where can I find biblical style quotes that aren't from the bible...

Example.

‘And Michael saith, 'Worship the image of God, but if thou wilt not worship him, the Lord God will be wroth with thee.' - Vita Adae et Evae, 15

Any help would be welcome

That's pretty open-ended. Do you want quotes that seem to be about God or religion, written in the English dialect used in the King James version of the Bible (all of those "saith" etc)? Or do you want religious quotes in modern language, that seem Biblical but aren't? Are you looking for specifically non-scriptural quotes that tempt people to sin or go astray from strict Christianity, or are you making up a religion? New Testament or Old Testament?

Mimicing the style of another author is an art form. There are contests for it!

One way to make up quotes is to download a text version of the Bible from the internet. Then mix and match parts of sentences. If you care enough to want the grammar spot-on, find an expert on that dialect and have him / her proof-read or correct your fake quotes when you are done.

You might also look on-line for the keywords "Apocrypha", "Essenes", "Dead Sea Scrolls", to see if you can find translations of these in the style you want. Also various Occult and Esoteric texts might be written in the style, and you can take sentences out of context to mean whatever you want them to mean.

Do you need quotes? Why not just make up your own? If you're going for KJV style, then write any sentence you want with alterations like the following:

"you" = thee or thou (as appropriate)
"your" = thy
"does" = doeth

etc. etc.

(Note that the original Hebrew Bible doesn't have any linguistic equivalent to "thou," the appropriate verbs translate just as well to "you." In fact, the verse "thou shalt not kill" is only two words in the command form, and the verb means only specific sorts of killing, so a better version would be "Don't murder." Most commandments are in the second person future tense, so when it's translated as "thou shalt ..." what it really means is "You will ..." I dunno why they like to formalize everything when they translate it.)

You can also find hundreds of sources (books and letters) that are from the same time periods as the books of the Bible, but which weren't selected as part of the canon. The Bible as we know it is actually just an anthology that some authorities got together and picked out; it's by no means the only scripture out there that's related to Judaism and Christianity.

Dude, google song lyrics! Totally the best way to go! Try your luck with metal / gothic / progressive bands. Also, check out quotes from Milton's Paradise Lost (he basically defined the modern vision of Satan), Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell ... any of the early 17th century poets (George Herbert leaps to mind) and the Romantic poets (Blake, Wordsworth, Gray, etc).

And if all else fails, Shakespeare will see you through ("Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war!").

I'm not 100% sure what you're looking for, but here's what I plucked from a VNV Nation lyric site in 30 seconds using two songs ("Joy" and "Genesis," both of which deal with spiritual crises):

Have I no control, is my soul not mine? Am I not just man, destiny defined?
Am I not man, does my heart not bleed?
We are the kings of wisdom, the fools as well. We are the gods to many, we are humble men.
We who build great works just to break them down.
The abyss becomes me, I wear this chaos well
Are these not words of heresy? A venom on my lips, a poison?
With you I stand in hopet that God will save us from ourselves: every cry a wasted moment until another day is lost
And did our laughter, did our tears have some purpose after all? Did we toil in vain in hope that wisdom came from what we'd done?

Google is my saviour.

Just FYI, the reason that people think of old-fashioned Engilsh (with the "thou" and "thy" and "shalt" and whatnot) when they think of the Bible is that they're usually thinking of the King James Version. The KJV was one of the first English translations. When the KJV was translated--around the time of King James I of England--that style was pretty much normal English. For some reason, some people prefer it over newer translations. There are lots of translations now that use regular, modern-day English.

This idea may not help with angel/devil angle, but a lot of quotes that people think are from the bible are shakespeare - same time period as KJV. Also Benjamin Franklin had a lot of sayings that remind people of proverbs.

The whole "ashes to ashes" thing isn't from the Bible, either...

Also, that old quote "And the lion shall lie down with the lamb" is very, very, popular, but is actually misquoted. It's a wolf that's sleeping with the sheep. :)

"The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fattling together, and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze, their young shall lied down together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. " Isaiah 11:6-7
