I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread where we can post our wordcounts. If we each make one post, then edit it each day, to keep a running total, then we can compare our progress. (Should I be using the plural of progress? Does such a thing exist?)

So, to begin.

Day 1 - [haven't typed it up yet, am working on it. Will edit soon.]

I got to 2,935 before I went to bed. (6 or 7am, though only four/four and a half hours of actual writing)
Obviously I have no life or obligations that require me to be awake during the day. :P

Nearing 8:30pm, and planning to write some more tonight. At least an hour or two.

I know from experience that the first day is my most productive day, so I'm not happy with 2,935. Any other day of the month, that'd be super awesome, but not for the first.
(Any other day of the month, even breaking one thousand would be super awesome... Best total word count yet: 20,000)

First day and I'm currently at ... what,, 4700-something? I expect to double that by the time I go to bed (somewhere around 2-AM-ish) so this thread doesn't quite work for me - but it'd be awesome purely as a running tally, so therefore:

Day One: 4758 words, 8:34 PM.

After feeling decidedly flat all day (probably from lack of sleep and my resolution not to write until I caught up on sleep) I finally began writing after midnight but still achieved some good productivity. The official word count for today is just over 7000 words so the grand total is:

At the end of Day 14 = 82,240 words.

As it's 4.33 am I really should try to get some sleep!

Red, the Dragon who's too tired to think of something to put here!

Gah. Fine. Don't let me edit my post then. (Seriously, what the hell?)

So. Day 1 - 1813 (The end of a ... section... so a good place to stop. I'm not stressed, I know I'll write a good 10,000 over the weekend...)

4021, and Lindra and Red Dragon are ahead of me! And no doubt Starkiller is on 50 gazillion already. :-)

I'll aim for 5k before midnight, then do day 2 before going to sleep.

Hahaha, not quite! I'm about to collapse for the night - today was a loooooooooong day. Thankfully tomorrow is a day all to myself, so if not 50 gazillion, then maybe over the 10K mark at least. Yes. That is my goal for tomorrow!

Day Two: 10 863. Yay!
Day Three: 16 588. And now I take my flu to bed.
Day Four: 20 616. And why is the bold tag not working?!

I don't know how many I got yet - but it's several excercise-books full of stuff. The recent gear, that is.
Now it's just a matter of getting it all on file........wish people would stop bothering me with stuff like work and bills and shit.
Heh.

GRR.

OpenOffice.org.

LOST 200 words. LOST, GONE, No longer there. Thing is, all the words are still on the page, only the number has changed. Unless I'm missing something...

Day 1: 3,423
Day 2: 4,227
Day 3: 5,990
Start of day 4: 5,764? What? (Still above Day 3's target, but...)
End of day 4: 6,529
Slipping. But I'm hoping to catch up over the week. (Weekends are the worst time to write, for me)

So I'm slowly creeping up on Red, I'm only a thousand or so behind ... then BAM. She adds 10,000+ words. I'm sure this happens every year. :-)

Here am I, at 4.37am Monday morning adding my final word count for the night to the forums and I find this.

I'm sorry, I had to chuckle!

It's what happens when Red has slept most of the day and then writes most of the night.. *grins*

It's also what happens when Red is working on a story she loves, and this year, I love my story!

I've been watching yourself and Lindra in the word counts and it reminds me of that scene in Ice Age where they are zooming down the ice chutes - just when one gets ahead the other notices, flattens out and zooms past, only to be overtaken yet again - and as with Ice Age, what fun it is!

Well, I have a day of running around in the city ahead of me (when I finally get out of bed), so who knows when I will next get the time or energy to write. So here's your chance to creep up and zoom past again!

Good luck!

Red, the productive Dragon

I've been out of Internet connected computer range for the weekend, and I only got to update my total when my in-laws computer was not being used (and not appear to be a internet crazed addict).

So, as of day 5, my total is 7101 - lagging a bit, but getting there slowly.
Day 8 I'm at 8365

I really, honestly think that the 27k to 39k range is the hardest to get through. Once you hit 40k, it feels like you're on the home stretch. :)

Oh, I don't know. Hitting 30,000 is pretty cruisy too.

*sets sights on 41,000 and tries to reel you in*

I completely agree. I always find around the 30K word mark, it starts getting like pushing mud uphill. Once I'm over 40K, then it's back on cruise control again!

I can feel myself slowing down. This always happens during week 2. Instead of taking a break because my bottom is sore, I find myself taking breaks because my brain is sore. But it's the end of day 7 and I'm almost half way.

And Red -- 39k? You're enjoying this, aren't you! ;-p

Congrats for finishing, betweenthemoon. Are you going to take it down a gear now?

Yeah, I think so. I have my first exam on Saturday, which was why I wanted to be finished before then. But I still plan to get to 100k by the end of the month -- or at least finish my story, whichever comes first. I'm not quite halfway through yet, I don't think.
