I got off to a decent start and wrote 1771 in my first sitting. I think that might be it for tonight. Should get plenty of opportunity to write lots and lots tomorrow, as I have no plans at all. How is it going for you so far?

I'm doing pretty well. Last year my word goal was 100K so this year it feels almost easy.

I've been doing good so far ... until I felt this afternoon that I'm drifting away from my story and writing something that isn't as good as my first Idea was. I decided to stop till tomorrow, to reread what I wrote tomorrow morning and continue then, or maybe even start afresh. That's why I am still under the wordcount for today. The problem is that I still don't have any plot, only a vague idea what the story should be about, and some characters.
well, tomorrow is a new day...

Alhamdulillah. So far so good. The weekend has been harder because the kids are underfoot. I like to write first thing in the morning and get it done. But the kids pose many distractions. I am looking forward to Sunday to get them back to school. How do you put that progress chart after your name? Hmmm. Thanks, Nicole

You could tell us your vague idea - maybe we can help with the plot?

It is going to be a children story, about a bunch of kids in a school. the school is new and has this year only 20 students. And my Idea was to write about 4 of these children, and how they become friends after a while. They are: a girl, poor, a bad student in fifth grade, and bigger than most children in her age, a boy in the same class, the exact opposite of the girl, a genius and very small and timid, then there is this small girl from 3rd grade, friendly and nice, and another girl in 4th grade, from a rich family, which used to live abroad, and is apparently a snob. Then there is this other boy, which calls the big girl names (elephant, gorilla), and she hits him for it in class, and refuses to apologize. She gets punished and decides to take revenge not only from him but from everybody who was present, and succeeds but feels bad about it and tells one of her teachers. The teacher forgives her, because she hears in her words how injured she was, as everybody keeps looking at her because of her size and calling her names. But she takes her promise she won't do it again and tells her that whoever judges you by your looks isn't worth being angry about.
That's a short version of what I wrote so far, but I don't know where the story should go next. The vague Idea I had is to write about lonely kids who have no friends, and who get to know each other and become friends, and their other problems in school and at home.

Well, the nicest conclusion would probably be that the big girl end up with lots of friends and happy at the end. Wihtout loosing weight or changing, just by being herself. The question is, how do you get to that point? She and her current friends could go on some kind of adventure and do something heroic.

Hey, we are almost half-way, how is everybody doing with their word count? I am somethingf like 8000 words behind and a bit clueless, how to proegress with my plot. But so far my characters have always come up with suggestions. I just have to catch up and keep up....

I'm new to Cairo and new to NaNoWriMo, and I've been too pretty good, but right now I'm about 2000 words behind. It doesn't seem like much, but with work and my family, I'm not finding enough time to sleep and write. Writing has mostly been winning out, but I feel like I'm being a big grump to everyone! I'm writing now and should have a focused hour or so before I completely crash.

My story line is progressing. I've skipped sections and am writing the climax now. I've spent so much time working up to this that I'm not sure exactly what happens next. I know I'll go back and fill in some of the earlier sections, but I still have some thinking to do about how my characters react to the big event.

Salam,

Alhamdulillah, we are at the halfway point now! How exciting. I have kept on target most days, having to catch up other days, sometimes double the daily count. Alhamdulillah wa MashAllah.

Anyone else get major munchies while you sit at the keyboard? This is annoying to me. Plus how can you eat and still use the mouse and keyboard? Chewing gum has been a good way to combat the munchies.

Hope everyone else is doing as well as they hoped. InshAllah this is a great learning experience for everyone. Azomama
