SO, hows it going?

I met my first day goal and I'm happy and excited to keep going.

I got more words yesterday than I did in the entire first week of last year. That was pretty exciting.

That's really cool. I'm cheering for you!! \o/

I realized that I'm bad at writing chick lit. I guess that just means that I have to get to the zombie part sooner.

You can write, "Braaaaiiinnnsss... Manolo Blahniks... Braaiinnsss... Manolo Blahniks." Over and over. :-P

Let's just say I'm a bit delirious.

This is great! I'm having nothing but fun! By the end of today I should have over 15,000 words and since I'm aiming at 60k, I'll be a quarter of the way through. I might even get to celebrate Thanksgiving at this rate. The best thing is; the book is a piece of crap! Yep, it's a royal stinker right now, but it has moments... more than I'd hoped for. So, basing my writing approach on the theory that re-writing is where a book really begins, I'll have a lot of raw material to work with later... some of which doean't actually make me want to vomit. Who could possibly want more than that?

I'm keeping on track, nothing more. But hey, that's okay.

After an excruciatingly bad prologue, I switched POVs and am much happier with it.

I'm doing pretty good considering this is my first year, I'm nearing 10k so I should be two or so days ahead. XD
The story is well...rather bad, I skip alot of stuff to get to more interesting stuff, but oh well, I'm finding new villains and problems along the way so it's going pretty good. I can't wait to write the stuff that comes later!

It is now nearing the end of Day 4. And I have just passed my (completely puny) word count for last year.

That is exactly the way its supposed to work!
In my writers group, there are already people who are dropping out, their internal editor simply won't let them write without going back and polishing and repolishing and rewriting and fixing and...usually, never getting anything done...but Nano is a chance to fly in a totally different direction and see how it feels. I'm now procrastinating...by reading biographies of soap opera characters on Wikipedia. And I'm so, so confused, and wondering why these shows have been on for so long...

At the very least, it might give me ideas for later on in my novel. After my people get to the capital.

They're flowing! They're flowing! The words are finally flowing!

I'm late getting started (as usual), but I did manage to bang out 2500 words today in less than about 2 hours. Having the outline really has helped, since I have a constant idea where the story should be going.

Of course, I only have about 1/3 of the book outlined, so I'll be hitting a brick wall fairly soon, but the outline should at least get me through 20000 words or so.

It doesn't help that work is totally crazy. We have our big annual fund raiser this month, so my workload is out of sight at the moment (which means I won't have odd moments to steal at work to get some extra writing done). But that's okay, because I'm totally psyched about this book. I don't even care if it's any good or not. I just enjoy the idea of carrying an idea through to fulfillment.

I wish I hadn't used such flowing language. My springs of inspiration suddenly dried up.

Maybe I need to take a nap.

Things are going great. I've managed to keep two days ahead of my daily quota, just in case I have some non-noveling friend who wants to hang out and doesn't understand that I need all the time I can get!

I hit 15k late last night/early this morning. I feel like I'm still behind quite a lot of you, but Bat-Winged Boy says that I'm way ahead of schedule. I haven't actually done any math to find out, but I'll trust him, since he's the one that got me into this. (This is my first year).

I'm a freak regarding the numbers, and have a spreadsheet listing every relevant one. You're currently where you should be at the end of Day 9. You're doing great. :-)

Woohoo...I'm finally more ahead than I am behind! I've got 6925 words, so I'm only behind by 4744 word! Man, I might catch up after all.

The only problem is that I decided the story needed a prologue, and the prologue is shaping up like a children's story *laughs*. But that's because my heroine is only 6. I'm sure the language will grow up as she does (I hope, anyway).

I was doing pretty excellent for a while, generating words faster in this first week than I really ever have in the past... but then I slacked off over the weekend and the first part of the week. T___T So I'm at the Black Drop trying to fix that! But where is everyone? Is this not our Wednesday meeting? Come gather, people!

I'm not coming...because I don't have a laptop. I'm not sure what the purpose of the meeting was, but I am guessing it is supposed to be to get together and write. Unfortunately, I can't really do that away from PC. This makes me sad.

Sad! You should try preparing a notebook by writing down the last few sentences from your PC and then working off of that! That's what I did before I had a laptop and it worked OK for me. It's just kind of tragic because I don't think any other NaNos are here...

Well, Sonnet. I'll take your idea and use it. It's slower writing, but so is writing and socializing, I suppose. I don't think I'll be coming down tonight, but I will come down next week and bring the notebook. Sorry that you were alone tonight. I feel bad since I live just a couple blocks from the Black Drop, so it's not like it would be hard for me to drop in.

I was going to drop by the Black Drop tonight, but the words started flowing and I did not want to break the spell.

I snuck in at about 5:15 and wrote quietly for about an hour before I spoke to anyone.

So I just finished a week and I have never written this much at a time before. It's sort of unbelievable. I thought since I'd been focusing on flash, there wouldn't be a chance in hell I could crank out 2,000 words a day. Last year I was lucky to get 500 four days a week, and I spent my days doing anything but writing. But now the nanomagic is working, I guess. I'm doing 2000 so I'll have some leeway when we head for California to see the kid and the kid's kids and the kid's wife for Thanksgiving.

I'm actually beginning to believe this is going to happen. The funny thing is, the words are more or less in the right order, too.

I just went beyond 25,000 and the night is still young.

And here I was, pleased, because I just passed 11k today. Ugh. Oh well.

Also, there were a good half dozen of us I think who came and went at the Black Drop. I'll definitely be there next week too.

Easy way to find someone there who's doing NaNoWriMo? Look for someone's laptop that has a NaNoWriMo sticker on it, as both CT and myself both have one!
