Judging from the multitudes of "0" scores still on the boards, I'm guessing you are not even close to being the only one having this trouble. So don't feel silly. You're probably helping lots of people by asking. :)
Right now, the online counter here on nanowrimo.org is not activated. However, you can update your numbers manually. Here's how:
Go to the top of this page and click "Edit Profile".
Once there, click the "Author Info" tab.
Scroll down almost to the bottom of the page.
Fill in the field titled "Word Count" with your new number.
Scroll all the way down and click "Submit".
That aughta do it!
If you have any trouble with any of this, let me know.
Don't feel stupid. Just follow the instructions above and put in your word count. You don't have to verify any word count until the end of NaNo when you upload a coded (instructions will be given on how to do this later) file to the "official NaNo" word counter thingy. Until then, wing it and write on.
Thanks, I think that will work. Now the problem is that the site is slow as molasses in winter, and I have DSL. Anyone else having trouble getting pages to load? I keep having "cannot find server" messages... :/
So I now know how to post my pages, but I can't because the site's clogged or something. :/
The problem's not on your end, Eaglet. The site has been experiencing some pretty serious problems this year, and the folks who put it together are scrambling to get it all fixed. They even shut things down completely for a while last night.
I've seen some improvements in the past few days. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it only gets better from here.
Hehe.. and take it as a gift that our posting time is being limited when what we really need to do is write our novels! Oh. Um... That means me too. Bye now. ;)
