Hello from Noblesville! I was just wondering if anyone else in Hamilton County is doing NaNo. I write all the time, and I'm in the process of querying agents for a YA sci-fi, but I decided to sign up for NaNo this year to get the first draft done on another manuscript... or try to get it done.
So, if you're from Hamilton County, what's your story? Did you sign up for fun or to motivate yourself? Do you think you'll finish?

Sorry Virginia, I never saw this! I'm from Hamilton County (Cicero, to be exact), but I'm currently at Purdue, hence the not noticing this thread. My name is Joshua and I am a HHHS grad and current Junior at Purdue. I write Fantasy/Sci-Fi/whatever interests me at the time, and this is NaNoWriMo round 2 for me.

How's it going for you?

It's nice to meet you, Joshua! You made it all the way to the end last year, and it looks like you're well on your way this year, too. That's quite an accomplishment when you're taking classes at the same time.

My story's going well. It doesn't always make sense... but it's moving along. :)

Late nights tend to be a college student's friend, and luckily I work hard during the day and typically manage to get most work done then, so the nights are mine for NaNo time.

Well, your word count certainly seems to be on track! And if the novel doesn't make sense, that just gives you a fun challenge when it comes to editing, doesn't it?

You're right-- editing is a fun challenge. I used to think I hated it, but I've since learned that stories really get better (or can really get better) after a first draft. It's always fun, after many revisions and edits, to go back and compare the final with the first draft and see how different they are.
As for my nonsensical NaNo story, I've decided to embrace its nonsense and make it farce.

You... get your work done during the day? You're a wiser student than I ever was. :)
Good luck, Joshua. It will be interesting to see how many of us from Indiana make it to the end.

Have you found any more Hamilton County participants out in the real world?

No, I haven't found any. I've asked some people, and most of them say, "What's that?" They have to be out there, though. And they need to respond here!
