it depends on how you look at it.
if you get into the reasons and the tech of their powers then I would say its a sci fi
but if you leave that stuff alone then it would be adventure

it can be both :)
good luck

I agree with bookmworm2007. My story isn't exactly a traditional super hero story, but my MC does obtain super powers and uses them to help people. Although I would consider my story to be Adventure, Sci-Fi and Fantasy, I chose Sci-Fi as my genre mainly due to my use of parallel universes. Although some of the things included in my story may appear magical, most of them are in fact just highly advanced science. If magic was a prominent factor in my story, then I would have called it a Fantasy.

Sage advice. Which is exactly what I have come to expect from the mega-super-genius-talents of NaNoWriMo. I am going with Adventure because mostly the story is about the action. I am not dwelling too much on the science, except in a Star Trekkie, make up some cool words, kind of way. And, there's no magic to speak of. Thanks for the thinking suggestions!

Superhero stories can be any type of story, although usually fall under adventure. If the abilities are derived from genetic sources or technology, it falls under sci-fi. If the abilities come from some sort of magical source, it falls under fantisy. If you have several, and each of them has a different ability, some falling under sci-fi, and a few falling under fantisy, just call it adventure.
