I know this is last minute, but I'm going to be at the St. Louis Bread Co. at I-70 and Zumbehl road from 2pm to 4pm tomorrow (that's Saturday, November 3). My writing buddy spouse, Nom de Plume Julia, is, at this point, planning to be there with me. So we thought we would offer this as a St. Charles County write in opportunity. So, anyone from the Westplex area, please feel free to join us any time during those two hours.

If I remember correctly, the name of the shopping center that the Bread Company is in the Bogey Hills shopping center. To get there, from I-70, take the Zumbehl road exit, and head South (which would be a left if you were getting on Zumbehl from I-70 westbound). Take the first right after the frontage road. Go all the way to the end of the entrance road and take a right. The Bread Company is in the corner.

I'll be the guy with the slightly reddish blonde hair on the classy black IBM Thinkpad, a laptop almost never seen outside a corporate lunchroom. My lovely wife will be on her silver widescreen Acer. We'll try to find an area with some power outlets. I've never brought my laptop in there, so I'm not sure of the quality of their internet connection, but Bread Companies are often pretty good.

Seriously, anyone who wants to join us is welcome. If there is interest, maybe we'll do this every week.

PS...We also plan on attending in Clayton in Sunday at Clayton, so if we don't see you in St. Charles, we'll see you there.

PPS If anyone has questions or comments, I'll be watching for replies to this thread or you can NanoMail me

We're here, at 2:22PM on Saturday, November 3rd. Nom de Plume Julia (aka Cheryl) and myself (actortommyd, aka Tom) are camped out in a comfy corner of the St. Louis Bread Co at Zumbehl Rd. in St. Peters/St. Charles. Don't see any more WriMo's here. If you're here in the restaurant, you're hiding pretty well. If you see this before 4pm today and wish to join us, come on out (the internet is slow and the place is busy, but it beats sitting in my basement office). Otherwise, we'll see you all at Clayton Bread Co tomorrow. Ciao!

I would love to go to a write-in in St. Charles. I live in Lincoln County and couldn't justify driving all the way to St. Louis. Are you going to meet at the same bat time, same bat place this week?

I live about 3 miles from that Bread Co, I had a prior engagement yesterday, but might be able to make it if you do it again next week. I generally teach Staruday mornings and early afternoon, but could maybe be there by 3 ish.

Hey, glad to hear from all of you. Yes, we are planning to do this again next week at the same place, St. Louis Bread Co. at Zumbehl Rd. and I-70. We will probably start around 2pm and officially end at 4pm. In reality, Cheryl and I were there until almost 6pm, so we'll probably not book out the door right at 4pm sharp. It will probably be more like 5. I'll confirm all this later in the week in this thread, so watch this space and post any questions here.

Linda, regarding your word count question, there is a word count verifier, but it is one of the many things that aren't working on the site yet. So, for now, your word processing program probably has your total words tallied for your somewhere (In MS Word, it's in the File menu, under Properties, and can be found in the statistics tab). Once you've got that number in your head, login to the Nano site and click on Edit Profile in the menu bar on the top right. On the Edit screen, go to the Author Info tab, pan down to the Word Count field and enter your magic number. Then click the submit button all the way at the bottom. The site will update your count after several minutes of churning and rattling (it's really slow right now).

Thanks everyone for your responses. See you next Saturday!

And....after I wrote all that stuff about getting to the word count screen, there is now a link on your author page that takes you right to the place you need to go. It says something like "Update your word count and author info". It's on the left side. Much easier.

As much as I'd love to make the write ins, unfortunately I work pretty much every Saturday during them.

I'd love to meet other nanoers though.

Okay, I debated starting a new thread, but hopefully posting to this one and bumping it back to the top will be good enough, plus I won't have to cut and paste the directions into a new thread. So.....

Hear ye, hear ye! The Unofficial St. Charles County and Points West Nano Write In is on again for this coming Saturday, November 10. We're going to shoot for 2pm as a starting time. We will go to at least 4pm, and perhaps a little longer, probably not much past 5pm. The location is St. Louis Bread Company at Zumbehl road and Interstate 70. For directions, check out my original post.

If anyone has any questions, post here or Nano mail me.

Wow, St. Charles NaNoers! Neat! I might have to try to work my way to the write-in.

Okay, I'm shamelessly bumping this back to the top again. I won't state all the details all over, but...

Write-In in the St. Charles area
Tomorrow, Saturday, November 10
From 2pm to 4pm officially, probably running later, perhaps 5ish or so.
At the St. Louis Bread Co. at Zumbehl and I-70.
Look for us near the door on the right, since that's where we were last week.

Check the original post for directions. Nanomail me, actortommyd, if you have questions.

Be ready to rock some wordcount!

PS I'm easy to beat in a ten minute word war. But I'll give it a go if anyone needs a boost.

Okay, we were late to our own write-in, but Nom de Plume Julia (Cheryl) and I are here, at the St. Louis Bread Co at Zumbehl Road. InjunJoe just walked in, so now we are three. We haven't done a sweep of the restaurant to look for any other lost souls, so if you are here somewhere, come and see us (this is a much bigger BreadCo than Clayton, we could miss someone). We have a power strip with four open outlets..... We'll be here until 5 or so. Gotta write. I'm at a gray area in my plot. Time to plunge off the edge of the map.

Bumping so us West County folks have something to aim for. I'll be at Amtgard first, getting out at about 3 ish from Blanchette Park and heading over. Should be hungry, and typy, by then. That is if I can continue to fight off this cold. Though I love working outdoors, theer is a price to be paid for doing so, and it starts with the sinuses. Anyhoo, type on!

We will be there, and we'll be glad to see you, Thystle. The last two weeks, Tom (actortommyd) and I have been there for quite a while past the official 4 p.m. quitting time. I think we were there until at least 8 p.m. both weeks, and I'm guessing we'll do something like that again for the remainder of these write-ins. So anyone who is interested but thinks they can't get there early enough...think again, and please let us know when you might be joining us! We actually got InjunJoe to come out last week, and a good time was had by all, chatting and writing by turns. The more the merrier! And there are cushy chairs, too! :)

Oh, by the way, the location is actually not far from parts of North and West County...only about 10 minutes from the bridge over the Missouri River on Highway 70...so don't feel constrained just because you live on the St. Louis side of the river! We don't require a St. Charles County passport...

Okay, Thystle, I have to ask...what is Amtgard? Never heard of it before.

Peace,
Cheryl, a.k.a. Nom de Plume Julia

Sadly, we have both come down with colds, and Dave is on call this weekend. I think heading out today would be pushing our luck. So sadly, I will be writing from home.

Yes, I've been lax, but the St. Charles County Write In is on today, Saturday, November 17. We'll be starting up in about an hour, at 2pm, at the St. Louis Bread Co. at Zumbehl road and I-70. We're going to be there at least until 5pm, probably a lot later, so drop in later if you want. The directions are elsewhere in this thread.

It's been a terrible week for word count, even for us overachievers. I'm looking to turn and burn today and set up a couple of big days here. Please feel free to join us and up your word count, socialize, eat, drink and be merry!

Tom (aka actortommyd)

Yes, we don't need the bump right now since we are as high as we can go on the thread list right now, but I wanted to announce that we are here, at the Bread Co at Zumbehl road. It is now 2:10 on Saturday, November 17 and the St. Charles Write in is on, even allowing for my laptop's eight minutes of boot and connect time. It's pretty crowded but we have some room and can claim some more shortly. We have five outlets on our powerstrip and some other outlets nearby. Come and join us!

Come one, come all, to the final 2007 St. Charles NaNo Write-In! We welcome St. Louis County people too--we're not *that* far away, especially for West County folks! Tom (actortommyd) and I will be at the St. Louis Bread Company, at I-70 and Zumbehl (about 10 minutes west of the Missouri River on I-70; directions at the beginning of this thread) from about 2 p.m. until our brains start going numb. In the past 3 weeks that has been between 7 and 8:30 p.m., so don't let it stop you if you can't be there right at 2:00. Our buddy InjunJoe can't make it this week, so we'll be solo unless someone new comes to keep us company!

I am ridiculously far behind (although I did finally break 20,000) and need to crank out some serious wordcount in the remaining week of November, and Tom has finished his first novel (51K) and is now attempting to complete his *second* 50K novel before November 30th (I think he has aspirations of being another word-god like Michael!), so we are psyched to do some major writing. Please come and join us!

Peace,
Cheryl

Hey everybody, just announcing that we are here, Nom de Plume Julia and actortommyd, at the St. Louis Bread Co. at Zumbehl and I-70. It's Saturday, November 24, at a little after 2pm and the final Saturday St. Charles Write-In is under way. We are planning on being here for quite awhile, so come on out any time this afternoon. If not, see you tomorrow at Delmar. Happy writing!
