Does anybody know where I am? I feel like I am the only one in my remote area. It is San Bernardino County. I am a frst timer. Having a great time, almost at 4,000 words on day 2. Please post if anyone is in this area! Good luck to all.

I know where you are. I spent my fall break visiting your area, 29 Palms and the Natioanl Park. I live in Victorville. On a good day it's only 1 1/2 hours to drive it. So from the other end of the Mojave desert - I wish you the best.

P.S. I too am a first timer.

Thanks for the response. I was getting a little discouraged with the forum. I am familiar with victorville a little. I have not seen any write ins I have been interested. How about you? I guess I am my own motivation, and my family of course. Good luck to you as well, write anytime you may need words of encouragement.

Have no idea where Joshua Tree is (I don't even have the album). But I go to puppy meets in Whitewater/Palm Springs every so often for the dog.

Don't get to feeling down.
I'm up -- Way up at 7000 feet in Big Bear and there is no one up here doing NanoWrimo to my knowledge.
Last year I was an ML in the San Gabriel Valley but after moving up here I didn't think it was practical to do the ML thing.
Anyway, we should get a group thing going since we seem to be the lone strangers in this vast online experience.

Hey Cy, welcome aboard. We all seem to be pretty spread out, but inspiration and encouragement are only a keyboard away. Just post if anyone needs to vent about anything. I was so tired tonight, I did not know where my story could possibly go. Then guess what? I forgot one of my characters was blind and I had him driving and screaching his tires to a halt!!!! I had some editing to do regardless of the nanowrimo rules. I am back on track though. I finally broke and my story took off again. Good luck to all!

Hey, ya'll! Lucerne Valley checking in! (Somewhere between Joshua Tree and Big Bear, I think) There's an High Desert thread in the Ca: Elsewhere Region,
http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1005534
and I just posted there also in hopes of organizing a write-together for next week.

I'm up for a drive up the mountain, too and welcome local NaNo buddies.

Hey! I love Joshua Tree! I'm up there all the time.
If you ever make it down the hill, you should come to my "Do the Write Thang" event on Monday:
Calling all Coachella Valley writers!!! (And anyone else who is interested in driving to the desert -- we don't discriminate.)
What: Check in, meet up and start mainlining caffeine at our first official CV mixer.
Where: Seattle East cafe (inside Borders) at The River in Rancho Mirage, 71800 Highway 111.
When: 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12.
Why: Because you've had your head buried in your computer all month and you need human contact. Because you've been driven to tears and depression and you need some support. Because you need a kick in the butt. Because we're fun.
Also: Bring your computer or a printout to read some excerpts -- if you dare.

Hope everyone is doing well. I think I am. I keep making notes for the late middle to ending. I have a ton of stuff, surprises and twists. I can't wait wait to write the last 20,000 but right now I am reaching for entertaining stuff. It will usually come to me late in the evening and then I throw it all on the page. I worry each day, and then I think of a way for the story to go. I just worry I do not have enough to take me to the good stuff! Good luck to all!
