Yesterday's official write-in at the Speckled Bird Cafe was so productive for me, I want to keep up the momentum. I mentioned to a couple people there about doing some other "unofficial" write-ins along the way and we agreed I'd email you. But stupidly, I can't for the life of me remember your (nanowrimo) names. Please, pretty please, contact me! And anyone else, up for some write-ins? I'm new to Cincinnati and don't really know my way around, and I work (freelance writer/editor) out of my home office, so I'm really going to try to go out to write just about every day I can. Especially in the next few days, since end of this week, I'm going out of town for a week or so. You know, just to make sure I'm keeping things nice and challenging for myself. Anyhow, Awakenings in Hyde Park Square on Erie (they have a website, FYI; coffee, tea, wine) is near me and a place where I've met up with other writers before if anyone thinks they'd like to try that out, for example. I'm probably be there. Just drop me a note. I'm online *a lot.*

*waves* We met yesterday at the write-in and I totally blanked on non-WriMo names. *s*
I'd love to do the 'unofficial' write-ins. I work 8-4:30 then swing down I-71 to pick up the DH from work off Red Bank Road so the Hyde Park/Oakley area works for me. This week is a little crazy for us so I can't give definite times but let me know when and where and I'll see if we can make it.

Sounds like fun!
I'm off work on Wednesdays so I could probably make it sometime then.
Not too terribly familiar with Hyde Park area; but I'm sure with some directions and a phone number to where I'm going; I could find my way there. LOL. I tend to get lost more often it should be allowed. :)
Anywho; just let me know!

Hi!
I didn't make it to the write in but I've got all kinds of time during the day and some evenings. I'd love to come over for some unofficial write-ins!
Let me know when you're around!

I suppose this is hardly "impromptu" -- I plan on writing tomorrow for a while at, say, around 5:30 on, at Awakenings (http://www.awakeningsco.com/locations.html) on Erie, Hyde Park Square, if anyone would like to join me. I'd welcome it. And now, I need to try to focus... got nothing done on this novel... *yet* . Shouldn't the dark and the rain work towards me entering that interior place of writing? I suppose one of my characters will now begin to feel depressed or something like that.

It's a planned impromptu, which works better with my schedule, so count me in barring a major catastastroke. Have Alphasmart will travel. *smile*

Seyi, come join midwestern_one and me tomorrow afternoon at Awakenings in Hyde Park around 5:30. I think the collection of writers helps keep muses nearby. :)

Oh well, have fun!

This is when working 3rd shift can be a pain. We're usually through the morning, and crash sometime around 2pm...
Of course, it's the mate that has the laptop anyway. :)
Have fun folks!

We'll have to try to schedule more than one along the way for everyone that has different shifts and different days they can and can't make it. I'm all for setting up more 'unofficial' ones because I know it's helpful.

Confession: I joined today. I have no words. (Plenty of ideas, though.)
Result: I would love to come to some write-ins. I can't make today's because of scheduling conflicts, but would anyone be interested in another one at the beginning of next week? I know this is wild, but I'm thinking something in the morning, which is when I do my best work.
I'll suggest Tuesday morning at 8:30 am for as long as folks can stay. I don't know where people are, so I'll suggest Brueggers Bagels in Clifton (just past Clifton and Ludlow, going towards MLK) as it seems relatively centrally located (okay, that's a flexible term) -- wifi as well as breakfast available. Any takers? Any suggested changes?

Too bad today isn't working out for many this time, but I'm going to keep trying to have these going as I can. Any time anyone wants to send me an email at the last moment, looking for writing company, please do. You never know. But -- here comes the "but" -- I am going to be out of town starting later this week for another week or so, and that means I can't do the Tuesday at Brueggers, much as I'd like to.

Brueggers would be perfect--just not today, obviously. :) I try (depending on if I can drag my sorry butt out of bed early) to go there anyway, daily and in the morning, to do my revising.
Let me know if you decide to do another one! I've also found that Saturdays in the late afternoon... the place is empty.

First of all, if anyone tried to go to Awakenings, we picked the one day they closed for an hour for a company meeting. Go figure.
I'd love to do Tuesday at Bruegger's but that's during the time I'm at work so I will have to pass on that one. However, we have the official write-ins on Saturday from 3-5, but there's no reason why we can't move it over to Bruegger's to sit around longer. Just tossing that idea out there for anyone, especially for those who might not be able to make it to the official ones. If someone plans one later in the afternoon on weekdays, I'll try to make it if I can.

Tuesday night at Awakenings. Tonight the 5th I'll be at Awakenings from 8:30 to close. I'll be in the Patrick Roy Colorado Avalanche jersey. All this talk about coffee got me thirsty!

Ack! Forgot about the official write-ins. I just tossed the whole "Bruegger's empty on a late Saturday afternoon" thing as I'm not really sure I'll be able to make it to the official write-ins, due to my budget. Yeah, I know, it's only a two-hour write-in, but given the price of coffee/food nowadays... there's not much room in my budget for splurging. Bruegger's is more doable for me--pretty much any time--since I have one of those bottomless mugs to offset my food/drink spending. :)
Moving it to Bruegger's afterwards... that'd be a problem. They close at 7 p.m. on Saturdays. :(

If they're open on Sundays, that might be a possibility too. (I have one of the mugs so I understand going there.)

Hope you had company. Since they were closed at the time some of us had discussed meeting, I went home and tried to work at my desk.

No, but that's okay. I knew it was super last-minute, but thought I would mention it. Perhaps someone was working from their desk and needed a caffeine pick-me-up and some company.
I did happily knock out another thousand words in the short time I was there. Neat little place.
Peace and happy writing!

How crazy that all turned out! When I saw the last-minute sign on the door, I went on to take care of another errand, then returned at 6:15, the time the sign stated it would reopen. Just in case. Met up with another nanwrimo-er and wrote until 8, so we just missed you, Quiglan -- I should have thought to check the forum to see if anyone had posted anything. Sorry to have missed you, also, Mrs. Gub, and anyone else.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah. I am so very sorry for dropping off the face of the earth for the last few days. The workload at my job exploded over the last few days, and I have been buried under a stack of applications and an avalanche of phone calls. (We've been getting the same number of calls daily that we usually would get in a week's time, and our phone system has literally stopped working several times due to the overload of calls. I've been pulling quite a bit of unpaid overtime just to keep my head above water.)
Thank you all for being super-enthusiastic and setting up more write-ins while I was freaking out ! I'm done losing my mind on the work front (hopefully) and am ready to start catching up on lost writing time.
I'm all for adding Sunday afternoons at Bruegger's and Wednesday nights at Awakenings to the calendar! Would 2:00 on Sundays and 5:30 on Wednesdays work for everyone?
Thanks again for carrying on in my absence. You all rock beyond words.

Hey, myopic, glad to hear work is calming down. I posted on another thread that Awakenings has a wine tasting on Wednesdays beginning at 6:30 (til 8:30). So maybe that's not the best night for it?

Eeek! Wine tastings and write-ins would not be a good mix. (Although I do have a secret weapon in Cafe Zinfandel... admittedly, it's a crappy wine, but I seem to write well on it. I've been referring to it as Magic Red Wine for years.)
I've shifted everything to Thursdays, excluding Thanksgiving. Hope that works for everyone....
