Hey all!

I had an *excellent* time at our kick-off today! It was great to meet everyone who was able to make it! Monaghan's turned out to be a pretty good spot, what with the availability of seating.

If anyone's interested, I'd like to have a write-in (so plan on bringing a laptop or notepad and pen!) either one night this week, or next weekend.

Since there's few enough of us in Oakville, let's try to organize this for when is best for everyone. Monday and Tuesday are too soon, I think, to get organized.

So when is the best time for you?

I'm personally leaning towards either Thursday at 7:30, Friday at 4:30 or in the afternoon on the weekend.

Chime in with when you can meet - we can always organize multiple events if some of the group can get together one night and the rest can't until the weekend.

Cheers,
Chelsea

I'm going to be in town the 20th and 21st, so if anyone wants to have a write-in then, I'd love to take up residence in the Starbucks and write furiously for a few hours. Either reply here, or PM me if you're interested!

I have to work Thurday and Friday night, but I could do Saturday night, if anyone else is available.

Theres a good chance I'll be in Oakville Friday at 4:30 so I could probably do that. As for the weekend, I would try to make it but no garentees as theres a chance I might be feeling a bit to lazy to bus down to Oakville when I dont actually have to go and be edumicationified. Let me know what we decide and I'll go from there :-) I might be able to pursuade Gloria to come to as I'm guessing she could use the chance to sit down distractionless and just write as I know I definitely could.

I'm fine with any of the times you mentioned, although I'm slightly worried about an afternoon on the weekend, because that sort of takes coffee shops (and plugs) out of the equation because they might be to busy.

Has anyone considered Wendsday?

Wednesay I probably wouldnt be able to make it as I dont have class and am too lazy to bus down with my laptop but if thats what you would like to do I'm sure I'll make it to another one of the write ins. I'm hoping we at least do a couple... we seem to have a great group of people.

Wednesday is no good for me because I have a weekly family obligation from about 2 in the afternoon until 9 pm - which isn't to say that people *shouldn't* get together on Wednesday, of course!

Saturday evening might be okay for a coffee shop -> particularly if we go to one that isn't in the downtown core? I was at the Starbucks at Trafalgar/Dundas last weekend at about 9 pm and it was pretty dead. There just wasn't a lot of seating. The Williams in that same plaza area might be better though?

Darn, just realized I'll be at a late night party on that day (the 24th right). Ironically, I'll be in toronto anyways. Well guess I'm just going to have to go to all the Oakville event thingers then :)

Okay, so let's plan on.... Friday at 4:30 and Saturday at... 7 pm?

It also sounds like Seadragon would like to do the 20th or the 21st -> any preference on time - location is Starbucks downtown? And there's another thread started by Mini-Kun about a get together at a Timothy's, so keep your eyes peeled for that (I'll post time/location here once Mini gets it up here)

Now the where.

We need some place with some seating - I would estimate there'll be at least 5 people at each of these write-ins so seating is an issue.

Friday -> Kelloish and Gloria-of-no-Nano-nickname-as-of-yet, are you two definitely coming? Is it safe to assume that closer to the college is better? Is this an issue for anyone else (e.g. glassmenagerie__ who, if coming, is coming from a school?)
If around Sheriden is okay, there's a Starbucks on Upper MIddle Road, near Trafalgar that might be workable (I'll check the seating situation later today). Alternatively, we could try the food court at the mall/Oakville Place - lots of seating, though it's not moveable, access to a Tim Hortons and a Timothy's *and* an interesting writing atmosphere? Other suggestions for location? Williams at Dundas/Trafalgar might be a bit of a hike from the college, but I had good luck with Williams in Waterloo?

How about Saturday night? Are the coffee shops downtown any quieter in the evenings? (wishful thinking? ;) )

I'd also like to suggest that if you happen to be heading out to do some writing somewhere, toss it up on the boards if you're open to some company!

I'm 90% for sure coming (and near the school is definitely good) but I doubt Gloria will but I will make an attempt to harass her into it ;-) And if by some weirdness I dont come on Friday I'll probably swing by Saturday... perhaps i'll just do both =D

Okay, I checked out the Starbucks on Upper MIddle (at 8th line, by the LCBO/Beer Store) and it's not huge. But I'm not anticipating *hordes* of people, and if we do crowd the place, we can always head to the Harveys or the Swiss Chalet for more table room. I'm going to bring a notebook instead of my laptop - not sure what the outlet situation is, but there's definitely no internet connection.

Please clearly RSVP here so that if we know before Friday night there'll be ten of us in the Starbucks, we can plan on one of the alternatives.

Saturday -> Where do we want to meet Saturday evening? What time is best? 7?

Also, I loved the idea the Waterloo group had of meeting at a Golden Griddle on Tuesday (2.99 all you can eat buttermilk pancakes!). I'd like to propose a write-in for next Tuesday evening there -> time doesn't matter to me, 5 pm? 7 pm? is earlier or later in the evening better? Am I the only person who thinks this is a good plan? :)

Hey, Daeja;

I know you're already doing a lion share of the work, and I'm not sure how hard it would be but I was wondering if it was possible to nanomail people with the set times for these. I'm getting a little confused wandering through the threads, and I'm afraid by the time I check them, I'll have missed a meet.

*nods* This makes sense. It'll be too late for the meet-up tonight (4:30, Starbucks, Upper Middle and 8th Line!), but I'll send a message out this evening with other times that have been set.

Agh, so life is insane, and I haven't been able to do just about anything... Anyway, I'm in Oakville, at the Starbucks downtown, and this is sooo last minute, but I haven't had internet access in ages, so if anyone cares to join me, I'll be here until 2:30-2:45ish... :D
