Well, it's a happy day for me, knowing that I'm not the only Wrimosaur in the Hat this year!
So, does anybody in the area want to meet up for a meet-up/writing session? If so, just reply in this thread, and let me know which days/places work best. I'll go first:
Hi! I'm available for a meeting any time on Friday or Sunday, and during the evenings on Mondays and Wednesdays. Saturdays are usually good, too, but this weekend I'll be checking out the Lethbridge meeting.
As for places: If it's during the day, then the Mad Hatters Roastery or Zucchini Blossom are obvious choices. If it's during the evening, I'd suggest either the Starbucks, the Cypress Club, or the Medicine Hat Curling Club (after all, how many other novels in the world have been written in a curling club?).
Does anything on that list sound good?

I'd totally be up for this meeting thing!
My schedule changes on a week to week basis though, so if you're schedule is pretty stable I can sort of plan ahead better. So far next Monday is looking like my best time to meet. As for where, I'm not too picky.
This is my first year doing NaNo, so you'll have to forgive the following stupid question: What happens at these meetings? Is it pretty well a chilled out sort of get together?

Meetings vary from region to region, but the general idea is just to bring your laptop or your notebook, meet up with your fellow writers, chat a bit about the sort of novel you're doing, and maybe ask for a few ideas. Examples of things you'll hear at a meetup:
"I need a way to kill two people at once in an accident that wouldn't make the papers."
"A car crash?"
"Too public."
"How about carbon monoxide?"
"Yeah, that'll work."
When you're writing off the top of your head, it's surprisingly easy to use suggestions people throw at you. : )
There might be a little competition, maybe just to see who can write the most words in ten minutes, but at the end of those ten minutes, it's back to chit-chat. So yes, they're usually a pretty chilled-out affair.
Also: swag! If I can get them mailed in time, there might be little writing goodies like stickers and pins that I can give out. Cross your fingers, and hope that Canada Post obliges.
Monday, then? I'll make some calls and find out what's open for the stat holiday, and post my findings in this thread.

Hahaha, oops. I so forgot that it was a long weekend.
But the meeting thing sounds cool. If it doesn't work Monday we could meet a little later in the week.
Let me know!

I'll be in Calgary for most of Monday (12th) to feed my other non-writing habits (fabric), but should be back later in the evening. Otherwise, anytime between 18:30 on Saturday until 21:30 on a Wednesday are my best days to meet up. Also, um, the laptop I have freezes every 5 minutes and doesn't have a battery... so not really portable, but maybe I can get a loner from work. I'll check into that... it would be a lot less hassle than having to do a back-up after every paragraph and since my supervisor has always wanted to write a novel, he may be easily convinced :)

All right -- here's my writing schedule for the long weekend.
* * * * *
Friday
15h00-18h00: Cypress Club (writer's atmosphere, comfy, comfy chairs)
I'm a member, so just walk right in and say hello, and you'll be recognised as my guest.
Saturday
12h00-15h00: Medicine Hat Curling Club (quiet, plenty of seating, electrical outlets, cafeteria)
Then, I drive to Lethbridge for their meeting...
Sunday
13h00-15h00: Starbucks (south end of town, not going to be closed on Nov. 11)
Monday
12h00-14h00: Zucchini Blossom (legendary coffee)
* * * * *
Come one, come all. Say hello, grab a beverage, and start writing.
If Sunday night would work better for people, just suggest something in this thread.

Wow, you weren't kidding, then. You said you were available on Monday, though. What time?
And don't feel bad -- these aren't "NaNoWriMo" events, they're just where I happen to be writing.

Hahaha, well, ok, I'll try not to feel bad.
I'm available Monday evening, from like 1800-ish onwards. Although I don't know what would be open besides Tim Hortons. :S Perhaps Starbucks?

Starbucks at 18h00 on Monday, then. Just look for the guy with the dinosaur.

Ooops. It's times like this that I wish I had internet at home... I missed all of those dates, ha ha ha! I'll keep checking back though for the next schedule! (During work hours of course)
