Hi folks

How is the writing coming along?

I have managed to create a tentative outline, character sketches, description of my story world and a list of scenes, a daunting 112 of them. I used a watered down version of the Snowflake method.

I have finished writing out 8 scenes and have reached a wordcount of over 8K. That seems like the stuff will turn out to be much longer than 50K, or maybe I am just being verbose up front because I have to set up the 'world' I am setting the story in. Or maybe some scenes will combine/ collapse.

Okay, then, back to writing now

Cheers

Swapna

Great going Swapna. I am totally swamped. I just sit in front of my laptop with my fingers on the keys and nothing comes out. I guess this is writers block...

Hey,

I'm stuck as well. I was sitting in front of the glowing screen for more than two hours at a library today, waiting for inspiration to hit me on the back of the head with a sledgehammer. damn. Anyway.. I was trying to come up with names for my cheesier-by-the-minute fantasy part of my story. This was off course before the lap top I was typing on decided to conk out on me. Which was also before my ugly looking demonic cold decided to read its ugly.. well you get the idea. *mumbles incoherently something about fish and boots* So at the moment I'm not very happy with where my novel is going. And... my MC very obligingly fell off a cliff. *grimace*

gah! Bleh! (and other frustrated sounds)

Anyway... Reading that breaking news and hearing that wrimoradio podcast made me so much better, I think I'll get back to writing...

Happy writing everyone!

Chittz

PS: If you have the time, do drop me a note telling me that I am not a horrible, horrible writer. Seriously.

We sail in the same boat. Post 5,000 seems to be a terrible place for a writer...

Woo hoo! I wrote a sentence that was 99 words long. Sweet.

I'm just about keeping up with the word count, but I'm falling further and further behind every day. And I have major travel plans for the Diwali weekend. Aaaaah!

Swapna, 15000 words. Holy guacamoli!

Woah! 99 words?! Awesome! :D

Now that you've mentioned it.. anyone run into any nanoisms as yet?

I'm deathly scared of Diwali as well! It resounds of extra procrastination opportunities *groan*

And oh, congrats Swapna! the snowflake method sounds awesome, but not something that'll work for me :)

I wiki-ed the snowflake method a couple of days before nano started. Couldn't understand it, decided it was best to let it lie.

I must confess, I'm cheating ever so slightly. I don't know if anybody else is doing this, but I'm cutting out the little things that make 2 words into 1. For e.g., "don't" becomes "do not", "head-banging" becomes "head banging".

:D

A sentence with 113 words. I love long complex sentences with big words. And I've crossed 8000 words. Yay!

You can check out these 2 sentences (99 words & 113 words) in my novel excerpt.

I'm writing, somedays it's a good thing and other days, I'd like to scrap it! Dang!

Anyway, the setting for my novel in Goa - the beaches of course. I had a pretty good synopsis but did I have an outline? NO! So, now, I struggle. I move from this scene to that. My characters are annoying. I've got 10,000 words left to write and haven't even introduced the MC's love goddess. Man!

Thanks for letting me vent. Anyway, writing about India is making me think of the place I left a long long time ago.

I've finally finished the first draft of my NaNoWriMo 2007 novel.

I had crossed 50K earlier, but I decided to wait till I finished the story I set out to write before I loaded the stuff and got my purple bar, so that I didn't lose the tempo. The last two days I've got myself a wrist pain typing, but it is done, for better or worse. I've just done my backup, too.

Now to set it aside for a while and then come back to it after a month or so, when it is likely to look totally whacky/ crappy. That's when I have to decide whether it has enough in it for me to start a rework round, or whether to scrap it completely..

Till then, it is catching up with dark chocolates.

How about you folks?

Cheers

Swapna

hey!

Congrats on the purple-ness! :D

As for me, I was about to give up last week, unless I had a miraculous rally week end, and you can see where my word count is now *points to word count* :D hopefully I'll make it to forty K by tonight :) and from there to 50, atleast by friday eve.

Anyway, my story remains convoluted, the characters flat, but incredibly fun to write! :D

And I agree! Even of now, I'm quite sure my story is wacky/crappy! :D

And oh, though this is slightly irrelevant here, shouldn't we start planning TGIO parties? "bounce bounce*

And Chittz, about the TGIO parties, by all means, plan away. As for me, right now I am sweating it out to have something to TG for when IO!
