MARATHON WRITE-IN
The write-in will run from 11am until about 9 or 10pm (ish) on Saturday, November 17, 2007.
For our marathon write-in this year, we have rented out the penthouse of an apartment building in the west-end. Will have plenty of room, outlets, and comfortable seating. The room cost us $40 for the rental. We will be accepting donations if anyone is willing to help chip in for the cost. Any donations received over and above the cost of the rental will be donated to the Office of Light and Letters in the Ottawa area's name. At the end of the night, we will let you all know how much we have received.
The marathon will occur at 3100 Carling Avenue. This is located at the intersection of Carling Avenue and Bayshore Drive, right beside the Coliseum movie theatres.
See this map!
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=3100+...
The best route by bus is taking anything to the Bayshore Shopping Centre (either the 97 or 96). From Bayshore you can either walk for ten minutes or take a bus from the shopping center (either the 85 or 166 go from the mall to right beside the apartment building).
There is also plenty of visitor's parking in the front of the building for people who are driving.
At the front door, use the buzzer to ring up to the Penthouse Party Room to be let into the building. The buzzer number is on the directory at the front door.
Please bring your own snacks or treats. There are plenty of sources of food nearby. There is a Tim Horton's within five minutes of walking. Also if you are coming from the mall, you can stop there are get something for yourself if needed (might I suggest the mini-Zeller's grocery). We can also order some pizza or something else for supper if anyone is interested. Please bring cash if you plan on ordering anything for yourself or chipping in for a group order.
Seeing as we are right next to a movie theatre, we will also use this opportunity to see a movie in the evening too, for those who are interested. At 8pm, we will have a vote for what movie we want to go see.
HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE THERE.
Please post if you are planning to come, just so we have an idea how many to expect! Or post any questions, etc.

I should be there. I promised myself I'd go to a few write-ins this year and I can't not go really with it so near my area, by car, by bus, by foot... okay walking would be a little long but doable - I'm by Carlingwood.
ETA: I will be making a small donation to help cover costs... No pizza though, gluten is ev-il! :-)

Yeah! It will be great to see you there! It is really just a short hop on the 85 for you or an even shorter drive down Carling.

Me! Me! Me! Yup. I'll be there. (Can't let Lori out by herself. LOL)
I will be donating toward the room rental.
I hope to be there for the duration unless something nasty shows up (like a cold I don't want to share).
There is also a really good Indian restaurant right across from the theatre. They do take out. It is called The Taj. Swiss Chalet is a little past Tim Horton's. Wong's Palace is across from Swiss Chalet. Lots of food choices available.

I missed last year's marathon because I was dying or something, but I got my annual November death-virus out of the way earlier this year (food poisoning woot) so I'll definitely make it. Plus, it's a penthouse party - who wouldn't be excited by that? And I've still got my Sunday open for CFL playoff watching! I'm such a killer stereotype.

If I can change my schedule with respect to the kids (and with the amount of rescheduling in his favour I've done this year, he better say yes!) I'll be there for at least some of the time. Looking forward to meeting you!

I plan to be there. After my return from Quebec City, I'm still catching up, not having had time or energy to make wordcount targets.

I will be there.
And hopefully I'll remember to bring a container of fortune cookies like I did last year. Those were very helpful.

Ooh...this looks tempting... >.> Now let's just see if I can drag myself out of my reclusive nature now that I have my own apartment and don't have to get away from my dad and stepmom all the time. XD

I'm coming. not sure what time I'll get there, but once I am there, I'm in for the duration.
I'm coming from east of Orleans and traveling by car, so if there are any Oreleainans ? Oreleanites? who want a lift let me know.

I'm planning to come - I spent this weekend in Niagara Falls at a dance competition, which has derailed my writing train, so I've got some catching up to do!

Everyone needs to come to the marathon so we can write lots and lots and lots of words and beat our two challengers!
They are winning!

More details based on what I heard at last night's write-in: apparently this place has a fridge and a conventional oven, so there's an inherent possibility for delicious foodstuff preparation. Also, I have a most excellent board game that will provide us with high entertainment while also bolstering our wordcounts. This is the stuff that legendary events are made of.

I'm so excited about this!
I can't make any promises, but there is a very good chance that I will actually finish my NaNo while at the write-in! How cool would that be?
I'm bringing cake. Lots and lots of homemade cake. :-)
Questions:
Are there any sources of GOOD coffee nearby (as in, not Tim's)? The only thing I'm REALLY snooty about is my java. ;)
Is there any wireless internet access there (for uploading word counts)? No biggie either way.
Should I bring extension cord/power bar for the laptop?
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

I'm not sure if my wireless will extend to upstairs. I will be testing it Saturday morning before you all arrive.
Aside from Tim's the only other good coffee is in Bayshore Shopping Center (a Second Cup) which is a 15 minute walk away.
We will have several extension cords/power bars, but feel free to bring another just in case.

There is a coffee shop in the Coliseum theatre next door to the apartment building. Not being a coffee drinker, I don't know which chain; but it's not Tim's.

I'm still not one hundred percent sure that I can go yet cuz I need to ask my mom if I can still use the car. If I do go is it alright if I bring my friend please? She's not doing nanowrimo but she still wanted to come to try to write something. We most likely won't stay for the movie cuz we both don't have enough cash to go to the movie theatre unless yall rent a dvd. I'll let you know as soon as possible if I'm coming 100% for sure.... so far it's 65% sure lol.

One friend is alright as long as she is not disruptive to the nanowrimo process....ie she is writing something herself.

yea she's not a trouble maker or anything or i wouldn't bring her lol....i'm trying to get her to keep writing as much as she can cuz she's a very talented lady yet she doesn't realize it. This might get her involved with nanowrimo next year too hehe. Thanks a bunch

I know what you mean. I dragged one of my friends into Script Frenzy and I keep pushing for her to try Nano, but with her coarse load it's too much for her.
