FINALLY, I'm free from the work I have to do. Well for now. Anyway, people were asking for the headcount on Saturday, and the plans so here we go. All taken from last night's conference.
(BTW, for details about this event, click here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1034542)
The event starts at 2:00pm, but people are planning to meet up for lunch before that. Here are the details of the lunch meet-up:
WHAT: PinoyWrimo pre-convention lunch
WHEN: November 10, 1pm
WHERE: Yoshinoya, right beside Powerbooks, Megamall
I already asked Julie (planet_telex) to be in charge of the lunch, just in case I don't make it since I'll be coming from night shift. Look for someone who has a NaNo poster (which I will post in this thread later, when I finish making it). :D
The convention starts at 2:00pm at Powerbooks, so I guess we should be there early to get good places. I'll be there already, so to the guys who are not in the conference or just happened to pass by in this thread, just look for the NaNo poster. :)
So now for the headcount. Please let us know through this thread if you're going or not, so we can have a headcount, that way we know who to expect. Then we'll raid a coffee shop or something after the event to write, write, write (or talk, talk, talk, whichever ;)).
Oh yeah, I'm giving stickers to those who come on Friday. =D
So far this is the headcount I have (using NaNo names so we don't get confused :D):

Hi, this is Tin. I'm a member of the Read Or Die secretariat and we are the organizers of Write Or Die: Writers Write. We're glad that the Filipino writers participating in Nanowrimo will be attending the workshops. The speaker for the first workshop--Dean Alfar--wrote his novel "Salamanca" during Nanowrimo and it went on to win the Grand Prize for Novel in the Palanca ;)
Anyhow, before I was pointed to this thread, we have already been talking about Nanowrimo write-ins with Powerbooks. Will you be interested in using the bookstore as a write-in place (so as to get more notice about Nanowrimo or attract more participants)? The write-ins can coincide with the workshops. It's not possible this Saturday in Megamall because there will be a seminar following the workshop but maybe we can schedule it some other time? And will you be averse to collaborating on a bigger write-in event right after Nanowrimo and to culminate the first stage of Writers Write? Since we had been planning to do one anyhow.
Also: Jun Cruz Reyes, a noted Filipino writer, is accepting manuscripts for critique for his session on November 17. I'm not sure who among you is writing a Filipino novel but if you are, or if you have a Filipino manuscript tucked away somewhere, please send excerpts to readordie.ph@gmail.com on or before November 13, 2007 so we can forward them to him.
English-language manuscripts will be critiqued by Charlson Ong who won this year's National Book Award for Novel for "Banyaga." Both he and Cruz Reyes teach creative witing at the University of the Philippines. You can send your chapters to Prof. Ong for critique on or before November 25, 2007.
Thanks again :)

Hey Tin! I'm Tina, the Municipal Liaison for the Philippines. Wow, this is great. :) I've been wondering if the NaNoWriMo group can find some local support here, just like the group in Singapore. :D Is it okay if I can get your email address so I can contact you and we can talk about this? Or if not, I'll be at Megamall on Saturday, so we could talk about this then. :D

Hi Tina,
Not sure if you got my private message. I probably won't be around for the entire talk on Saturday but if you want to set a separate meeting so we can talk about this at length you can email me at readordie.ph@gmail.com :) Will reply asap. Thanks!

The invitation said to bring any writing weapon you have to the convention (i.e. laptops, notebooks). Does that mean that I have to bring my "story with me", my laptop, to the convention too? I'm just wondering about the safety of my laptop.

I'm bringing my laptop along...we'll be in Megamall naman so it should be pretty safe. Well safer than outside that is. If you don't feel like bringing your laptop, it's okay, just bring whatever you can write with. :)

Nice to have seen some of the Pinoywrimos! And I have started with Dean Alfar's Kits of Stars. I actually buy that compilation, the Year's Best Fantasy and Science Fiction, but I don't have the 17th, where his story is. Must find that one!!! He was great, he made sense, I have a new direction not to keep to my sequential method, and to STOP EDITING. Geez, that will be hardest of all, because that's what I do, I always correct spelling and grammar and wording... No wonder I never finish, always some 20K short. Anyway, I hope everyone got a good pep talk from Dean Alfar as well, and good luck to us all!!!
