Woohoo! I passed 20,000 today with much jubilation. So far so good, long may it last, and many other clichés come to mind.

I love this story, and even more important, so do my characters. They've already changed the plot twice, and I'm arguing with them right now as they are now plotting a different ending.

This is the first time I've KNOWN how the story was going to end . . . and they want to hi-jack me. It's a plot I tell you! A diabolical plot. Wait, that's the problem. It's MY plot they want to sabotage.

Ah well, I'm off to bed and hopefully by morning they'll have sorted themselves out.

TB Woods, I see you're ahead of me. You rascal you. Tomorrow you'll bite my dust . . .

I wish we could see all the South African word counts. Sob. Ah well, if you're over 20,000 post here so we can give you an encouraging cheer.

Made it! I was really tired last night, so told myself to just write 200 words. That way I would at least be at 19 000. The next thing I knew it was 2 o clock in the morning and I had 21 600 words. Whoohoo! I love it when that happens. Except I am now soo sleepy.

It was good to get a bit of an advance as I don't know how much I am going to get written tonight and tomorrow.

I have found having at least some sort of plot in place is helping. It was very vague, as in Chapter 4 - the funeral etc. but it is helping. Even when the plot changes completely. At least when I start I have some idea where it is going.

Good to see so many of us crossing the 20 K line. Hope to see you here soon Gazelle.

There. Finally made it to 20 000. The writing is getting tougher now though. I hope it will get easier again. Next milestone is the 25 000 one. I can't wait to be halfway!

Yep, the writing gets tough about now. The second week is worse than the first. The third is even tougher. Then it goes better. Keep it up! You're doing well.

Way to go. Extra credit for doing it partly by hand. My first year I decided to write by hand and then type up as I went. It worked well until my shoulder packed up in protest at all the writing. So good luck. And hope your pc gets sorted out soon.

I've been behind the par mark since day one. Until today that is. I wrote a thousand more words than I planned last night to sweep past the 20k mark. Joy.

Okay, I am here now and the going is slow and ponderous but I will get there one word at a time.
(Thankfully NaNo-WordCounter isn't playing silly buggers with my word count.)

Well done all of you. The best part about getting to 20K is that there is a nice shiny landmark just 5000 words away. I aimed for being half way, which was so exciting that I was all motivated and hit 30 000 almost without noticing. Now I am slowing down again. I am hoping that when i finally reach 40 000 the excitement of being able to see the end will send me cruising along. well, we can always hope.
