Lately I've developed an obsession with fantasy sub-genres...er, no idea why...but anyway, thought it'd be fun to ask, so how would you all categorize your sub-genre of fantasy?
Mine's epic fantasy for young adults.

Mine's erotic fantasy. Honestly, the way I'm writing it, fantasy might be more accurately listed as the sub-genre. :)

Well, being based off of HeroQuest, it'd have to be heroic Fantasy, wouldn't it. It's more towards the swords and sorcery / low Fantasy end of the spectrum, although it has high Fantasy elements.

Mine's like a fantasy romance. The setting is fantasy and the plot is romance.

Modern-historical (mid-60's) vampire romance. (You can't get any more subgenred than that.)

Mine's Fantasy in the foreground with Historical themes and a mix of Adventure, Mystery and Suspense, a hint of Romance and all clean enough to market to Youth. Hmm, I think It could also be Mainstream Fiction as well, lol.

I think mine's actually somewhere between Steampunk (because it's set in my world's equivalent of our victorian era) and Dark Fantasy...I'm hesitant to call it High Fantasy or anything like that until it's written.

Mine is a fantasy version of the Edisonade. These are stories, like the Tom Swift series, centered around a usually young inventor/tinker/scientist and adventures catalyzed by his inventions and discoveries. In my case, it is a fantasy world and the hero combines low tech tinkering and clever cantrips and minor enchantments. I call it a Daedalade after, of course, Daedalus. His wings, brass bull, and other fantastic inventions make him a suitable fantasy namesake.

My subgenre is multiple choice!

Digital Watches -- straight up urban fantasy
Best Left Evil -- dark, low, fantasy. I think. The genre is just now settling.
Home Guard -- (if I get to it this NaNo) another straight up urban fantasy.

Mine's a fantasy sci-fi/romance...does that even work? hehe. Mostly it's an even mix between fantasy and science-fiction, and then the sub genre is romance.

Spaghetti Western Fantasy? Rated R for violence? Think Kill Bill meets fantasy. Not dark, just violent.
Other than that... Urban/Epic/Comedic/Western/Sci Fi with a splash of tentacle porn...
Yeah, I really just pulled people from every genre I could and told them to fight to the death.

To be honest? I have no idea.
Someone once asked me if i was writing steampunk since the tech level is mainly early 20th/late 19th century, but I don't think it is. The society is nowhere NEAR Victorian (my people never even developed the concept of hereditary power), and the machines aren't driven by steam and coal, but purely by magic. And the magic is derived by leeching the bonds between people and certain magical companion animals... which, by the way, do NOT talk. Not even telepathically.
The setting is urban, but I think "urban fantasy" refers to real world settings into which fantasy elements are inserted, and this is a whole new world.
I think the best description I do have is "On Crack".

Probably adventure-fantasy...there's a quest, but it's a bit on the fun/silly side for being called "epic." And I'm writing for YA readers, but two of my three MCs aren't teens, so I'm not sure whether it counts as YA or not. :p
