Since a lot of people seem to be trying to set up their own write-ins and it's been poorly organized and a bit stressful for the MLs, I've created a thread in which anyone (yes, that means you) can post a time and place and organize their very own write in. As we cannot guarantee that an ML will be able to attend, they won't be "official" NaNoWriMo events but that doesn't really mean a whole lot, especially since the MLs don't have swag yet anyway.

If you feel strongly about making your write-in official, send a PM to me or TheLorax, and we'll see if we can fit it into the schedule.

I feel a bit the fool for missing Monday so I will be at Bean Traders at Homestead Shopping Center on Saturday no later than 2 pm. I'll be the tall big guy in jeans & a red t-shirt that says ACHEWOOD in baseball team script. Homestead is at Fayetteville Rd & NC 54, near Southpoint.

I'm planning to spend a few hours on Sunday, Nov. 11 at the Starbucks in North Hills close to Harris Tetter and Pancera. Not the one close to the movie theater or Target. I'll be there at one until...whenever. If anyone wants to join me...feel free. I'll be the one with ol' fashion spiral notebook amd purple rim glasses. abbe

I'm planning to hang out at New World Coffee in Pleasant Valley Road all morning (well, like 9:30 til noon,) on 11/17 before going downtown to PCJ. There are always a lot of people on laptops at New World, so I won't necessarily know who you are unless you wear a sign, but I'll be in the back room on a macBook with a green cover. Feel free to join me there!

These are unfortunately unofficial and will have no stickers or whatever it is that MLs can use for bribery, but they are in our own town and in our own local establishments with free wifi and better coffee, better smoothies and better atmosphere than those chain-stores have.

Friday, 11/23, from about 12pm to 2pm, let's meet at Third Place at Five-Points

Saturday, 11/24, from about 10am to Ipm, let's meet at the New World Coffee off Glenwood on Pleasant Valley Rd.

Saturday, 11/24, from about 3pm to 5pm, let's meet at PCJ downtown on Fayetteville St.

Sunday, 11/25, after Mass, how about Cup-a-Joe's on Hillsboro St. 'til around 3pm.

It was great to see five other people besides myself writing at Third Place, and the food and coffee were delightful! We were all busily typing and didn't compare notes, but even though I came late, I also stayed late and got 2150 new words, plus a late lunch. :)

Maybe I'll go early to New World... I like the grouping in the back room, and look forward to seeing even more Raleigh friends than today; I know a lot of people had to get back to work already. :(

Hasta la vista! ;D.

Today I made the rounds from New World, to Cup-a-Joe, to PCJ (where I am right now).
Of the three, by far the busiest for writers was Cup-a-Joe and, while it was filthy and smoky, not to mention decorated in the tacky-revival crome-n-formica style of the mid-fifties, I can hardly wait to go back tomorrow after Mass. I got almost three thousand words done there, approximately five hundred words per shot of espresso! ;D.
Plus, I could smoke, yay!

Every afternoon for the rest of the week, I know I'll go to the bohemian & shabby-chic Third Place at Five-Points. Loved seeing y'all there engrossed in writing the other day & look forward to it again. XOXO
