By the St. Louis region. So, if some St. Louis people drop by and start taunting us, now you know why. :) But we are welcome to return the favor if they do. ;-)
Basically, it's a war of the words. Even though they have more writers than we do, we will be doing average word count of active writers... so we still can win. (Go team!) All you have to do is keep writing. And writing lots! We can't let St. Louis beat us now, can we? And if you feel you just can't write somedays, due to silly things like work or sleep, just think of good old St. Louis. And how we can own them. ;-)
Will figure out how we determine the numbers and such later... For now, happy writing!

Oh, yeah... I should mention that in order for us to beat St. Louis, you need to put your word count in! The site does all the math and will take the average word count per person. So... put in your word count! We must win!
If you don't know how to put your word count in, give me a shout. :)

here's a widget with the current totals for the regions.
we have 57 people entering wordcount, and total of 433720 words! but if you take the average wordcount per person, we are behind St. Louis by 1828 words!
go, go, write, write! :)

That shouldn't be too hard to do. IF it is based on how much per person puts out. If we have to beat the entire total, well we better get busy and not only write, but recuit.

I will hit 10,000 within the next 30 min and hopefully hit 15,000 by the end of tomorrow night. Still a little behind, but with a big push you never know what can happen.
Oh and I'm going to see the Dark Crystal at Baxter at 10!

hello everyone!
it is an ongoing challenge, as the war lasts through to the end of NaNoWriMo! we're falling a little behind, so we need to pick it up! (I intend to use my one day off work today to do laundry and write!)
here's the updated widget. now, the widgets only update once a day, so this is the totals as of end-of-day yesterday. if everyone likes, I will start posting the new widget every day so we know the up-to-date totals.
currently the average wordcount per person is 8830 to 11280, so we're 2450 words behind! so keep writing, and remember to enter your wordcount daily!
and also, if you want your words counted in the war, make sure that you have "Kentucky: Louisville" set as your home region. my understanding is that the 58 writers it's showing we have are those writers who have "Kentucky: Louisville" set as their home region *and* have entered a wordcount. so set your home region and update! :)
off to write! :)

Ah the widgets only update once per day? No wonder my blog widget isn't keeping up with my word count updates at NaNo.
I was almost two days behind but made it up today with 3001 words so I'm slightly ahead of schedule again. Hoody hoo!

We're going strong, but St. Louis is still ahead. Let's use some of our holiday weekend to really scare them! :) I plan to! Mwahahaha! :)

My wife was admitted to the hospital today due to severe abdominal pain, and will be in thru Thanksgiving. All the possible problems thrown around by doctors leads me to believe this situation won't be over this weekend either. This can mean one of two things for my writing:
1. I'll be taking care of her every need and completely setting aside this project for an undetermined amount of time.
2. She'll be sleeping alot, and I'll have tons of time to get some writing done.
I'm betting on option one. And since I can't do long writing binges due to my work, I'm likely to fall far short of the goal. However, I WILL finish this novel at some point, as it's hands-down the best thing I've ever created.
Keep my wife in your thoughts and prayers.

She's home and doing well - a big polyp and an abrasion in her intestine seems to have been the cause of it. She's going to be weak for another few days, so I'll be running around a lot for her the next few days (the days I planned on finishing this novel). But I'm going to give it the ol' college try. I know I can finish it - it's more of a matter of "Can I take it to 50K?"
Since the computer room is 3 rooms away from the bedroom, we've made a makeshift intercom involving her pressing Redial on our home phone so it automatically calls my cellphone - so when she needs something she won't have to get up or yell. I'm a friggin genius!
Edit: Yeah, that didn't help. Gonna finish with about 37,000 words.
