I wanted to put something like this in our lovely Regional Forum... mostly because I wanted to brag about a) my phenomenal word count (a personal best this early in the game) and b) about my 5300 word evening!!!
So, out of my four years, this being my fourth, I have always "won" NaNoWriMo, however, I have never been THIS ahead in the game so early! I'm very excited. From this vantage point, I can see the light at the end of the 100K tunnel. I had previously abandoned the 100K goal, but I think subconsciously I'm hanging onto it!
I had a great evening. Two point five hours of writing last night yeilded me 5337 words! Woo Hoo!!!
Use this threat to brag about your accomplishments, no matter how small! And please, don't bash each other, or "out do" each other by saying things like, "well, so, I did x amount of words..." instead say encouraging things, like "way to go!"
Thanks!!! And keep writing!
----------

My major accomplishment?
Being ahead enough on my 100K goal that I can afford to take today off for my recital ^_^.;; *Dies* Huzzah, I won't have to write like 10K tomorrow to make up for missing today! Plus, 30K in 8 days is a personal best for me, so yeah...I am a happy, tired, laryngitis-stricken Sabrina.
And WOW littlemunkiegirl...even with how hard I've been pushing myself, I don't think I've written more than just barely 5K a day this year. So...yeah, wow *Blinks*

Oh Emm Gee. That's hilarious! I know what you mean, though. I can't write around my mom either because all she wants to do is chit chat! That's alright because I don't see her but once a week or so, so I understand.
Your mom talks about poop, though, and that's hilarious!

I discovered a great back corner at the Southlands Caribou Coffee that I'm afraid I'll be haunting anytime I have a long break between shifts for the rest of the month. Just me, my mocha, my paper notebook--and my 2500 words in two and a half hours! (I started in the cafe at work, but my coworkers seem to think that the fact that I'm writing like a fiend just means I'm lonely and need my ear talked off; consequently, I may get a tattoo across my forehead that says "ANTISOCIAL AND PROUD", in nice gothic-type letters. Whaddaya think?)
I have tonight off, and after folding laundry for a couple of hours (sad but true), I'm hoping for another 3k or so!
Way to go, littlemunkiegirl! And great idea for a thread, btw.

2500 words an hour is pretty impressive. I'm happy to hit 1000, and I can only do that when I'm really in the groove. Nice going.
My big accomplishment came Thursday when I pulled a whopping 600 words ahead (going for the 50,000). Tragically, Friday was a rotten day and I lost ground. Now I find myself several hundred words behind. We shall see what the weekend brings.

Awww...*blush* Thanks you guys! And Avarie Carita, you and your friend could have stuck around if you wanted! It was a free reception and there were like a million people stopping by just to eat without having even come until we shooed them off... but it was a nice surprise to have you guys come! I hope you liked it?
And now, for a big accomplishment for the region as a whole: I was checking through all the threads I've gotten behind on, and as far as those of us actively participating on the forums goes, the majority of Denver is AHEAD of the benchmark goal for today! Quite a few have gotten close or even past 20K, and the site goal is 16,667words by today...so all right, you guys! Great job!!!

We did like it! We're musical junkies. We knew most of the songs, too. It was very hard not to sing along to 'Popular'. ;) My friend wants to know more about the Japanese song you sang. She thought it was really pretty. And I thought your guitar player was very cute. >:)

^_^. Everyone wants to sing along with Popular. Except for me, since I'm usually too busy singing along with I Speak Six Languages. But that's just me. Anyway, I could possibly get you guys a copy of the MP3 of the Japanese song if you want? I picked it out from the background music in an anime and bought the CD pretty much just for that song, but since the CD was like, oh, $30 with shipping and handling, I have no objections to just sending you guys the one song.
And Steve IS cute! He has his own song, the Steve Varney song, that our voice teacher sings whenever he comes into choir rehearsal. Now if only he wasn't apparently married.... *Sighs*

Um...I'm not sure this is an accomplishment, but it's very definitely a "Guess what I did!!!" moment.
I've been blocked on my final lyric assignment for songwriting for a week now because I keep writing songs for the band in my story, which frankly are sucking big time. So I decided to just write down the first rhyming phrase that popped into my head, and here it is:
"Fifty thousand words remain, the novelist's refrain"
*Headdesk* I now have a 6 verse, 4 chorus song written all about NaNo and how we must all have a masochistic streak to do this year after year after year. Well, I guess I have something special to contribute to the TGIO party now...

Shout out to all Denver writers!!! I wanted to add a quick note here, since I'm on week two and still alive to talk about it!
I made 20K this weekend and almost almost 22K last night - I'm still going strong which as amazing thing for me! The most i've written before has been a series of unconnected scenes that sit in a folder on the shelf, staring down at me like a gothic gargoyle, and I look up at it with a whimper in my throat; I never really felt I had the ability to stick with something for so long (30 days - aaahhh!) but NaNo's been the perfect platform to keep me motivated.
Congrats to everyone out there who's still on target, and to those ahead of the game!
Angie :-)

Congratulations for still being alive and plugging away! My very first NaNoWriMo back in 2004 was really an eye opener into the noveling world. It taught me a lot about just getting that first draft out! Typos, grammatical errors, inconsistencies will all be caught in the first rewrite!
Every year I look forward to NaNoWriMo. It seems like it's really the only month that I am able to do this sort of thing.

Actually, I believe the bars went purple when you went through the final wordcount validator to get your certificate and before that they were green...but last year was the first year I got to 50K before the validator was available, so before that I thought it was purple, too.
