Hey all,
We were able to book the Community Room at Eau Claire from 1-5pm on Sunday Nov 18. There are tables and chairs, we can bring in our (non-alcoholic, *cough* Hoss *cough*) drinks and eats, there is power to the room to plug in lap tops.
Come on down if you can make it anytime during the 1-5pm window! There should be word wars a plenty and procrastinations galore!
I will bring a power bar to plug in laptops....if anyone else is planning on coming and has one they don't mind letting other nano-ers use that would be great.
The only stipulation is that we have to leave the room in the condition we found it. So, sadly, no 70's Rock Band-style hotel highjinks!!
The Community Room is on the Main Floor of Eau Claire Market (across from the stairwell), the Market is located at:
Corner of 2nd Street & 2nd Avenue SW
202, 200 Barclay Parade S.W.
Calgary, AB T2P 4R5
Hope to see you there!!

Are 80's or 90's rock band style hotel hyjinks acceptable? I'll even bring my guitar and serenade the ladies and/or annoy them with the fact that I only know like 2 whole songs, and 3 partial songs.

Damn, I work that day. Too bad we couldn't move it to the Monday as that is when my day off is. :(
I'd really like to go. Maybe I can switch with someone, or switch it do a day shift so I'm off at three pm! (My shifts are always 2:45-11:00pm)

I'm so there...
Hoss is troubled by the news that there shall be no beer, but I've pointed out to him that he can nip off to have a pint at one of the Eau Claire establishments, and he claims to be fine with that. I try not to worry, but... big world, little bunnay. It's nervous-making.
Shall we attempt to drum up a list of things which *could* be brought, so that perhaps it becomes a somewhat 'pot-luck' affair? Sammich makin's, cans of soda, pretzels, head cheese, etc. Left to our own devices, we'd probably end up bringing the exact same bag of potato chips, or forget some critical component, like mayo. I need structure, I...I don't know what to do. I need a list! *WE* need a LIST!
Someone, for the love of GOD, open a spreadsheet!!! I can't work without an outline!!!

Why don't we appoint you in charge of that, since you seem to require it so.

Sorry!! I was restricted to the availability Mall Administration gave me...if you can't make it to this one, there will most certainly be other, both official and unofficial, meet ups!!
Or you could propose one??? hint...hint..... :)
(I love meet ups!! The more there are the more I can go to. It dosen't have to be as onerous as arranging a community room, could just be a coffee shop, we invade - they'll never know what hit them! haha)

Tell you what, I'll bring a sign-up sheet to the write-in tomorrow. I can't stay for the whole thing (I have to nanny starting at noon), but we can get some people signed up for food and if kjauchmuty is there, she can take it home with her and maybe add the info to her post later.

I unfortunately will not be able to make it to the event tomorrow, as it happens too early in the morning, and there's a noon-ish birthday party for a certain nephew happening out in Airdrie that day.
Online sign-up sheet might be a good idea though. Or heck, even an adequate forum topic!
Geeze...am I just full of great ideas or what?

Finally figuring this thing out. Count me in. AT least for the sunday thing. I'll be bringing two people with me. My roomie, who, likes to write, but not fictional works and her grandchild. Both are in wheelchairs. I don't have a lap top (sigh) SO might actually have to write using paper and a pencil *BIG GASP!* ;)
I was planning on bringing a platter of some sort. Maybe something call 'Troll bites'.
ANyways..glad I've figured this much out.

I showed up fashionaby late, curious as to why I needed to pay two dollars for parking. Yet I let it go, it could have been more. I entered the mall and looked around for a sign. After a pass through the mall I simply couldn't locate anything what said community room. Then I felt a tingle down my spine. As I looked over my shoulder I saw a man dressed in black. I could tell by his stance that he had a bunny somewhere in the bag he carried. It was IronKite.
"Hey," I said calmly as I turned about to let him catch up.
IronKite nodded in greeting, "I've been following you for half an hour."
I knew he was lying. I had only been in the mall for about ten minutes at this point, but didn't feel the need to correct him. "Any idea where it is?" I asked him, hoping he knew exactly where to locate the community room.
He shrugged, "Maybe we should ask," he suggested, gesturing toward the information desk.
I wouldn't argue, it would be a decent way to get directions to our destination. IronKite approached the desk and inquired quickly while I stood behind, simply listening. The man at the desk mentioned a wall, a sign, and something to do with washrooms. As odd as it was, we followed the direction he pointed to. Sure enough, the directions led us to the room of community. There was much rejoicing as we entered. IronKite immediately began attempting to locate a place to sit, testing the chairs to see if one would fit properly. I, on the other hand, walked around and took in the area. My attention was grabbed by a large desk at the head of the room. I knew I needed it, this was the place to do writing.
Upon testing the desk I found that it was on wheels, easy to move. I pushed it closer to the remainder of the group, near a pointless pole sitting in the middle of the room. All the lights were now focused on me, as they should be. I sat down, facing everyone else, it proved I was indeed in charge. Today would be productive, I thought, even if it kills them.
Aaaand then it was a lot of writing, some joking, some eating. I managed to locate a box of Popeye Candy Cigarettes (or tasty candy sticks that they have been renamed to) during a candy run. I picked up another pack on my way out of the mall too. Fun times were had by all.
