Argh! I knew someone would ask this question, I just didn't think it would be me. So how do you feel about your word count? I see some of my Writing Buddies keeping up the pace while others seem to have stalled. One person isn't even counting!

Myself, I vowed not to stress too much over the word count, especially if I got behind. Well it has happened. I am officially about 7,000 plus words behind. Both of my girls are about 12,000 words behind and my father is doing very well with his word count. Am I stressed? Not really! If I get stressed about it I may talk myself into thinking this is an unachievable goal when clearly it is not. I've done it before and I will do it again! I am just hoping for that day (and I hope it is soon) when I have a creative burst that slingshots me through about 6,000 words in one session. Maybe it will be today at my first write-in!

Happy writing!

Susan

I got a little bit behind, but I got myself caught up this morning when I stayed up to continue writing. I probably won't do any thing else today except sleep, then get right back on writing some more.

Susieiz, I'm in the boat with you. I'm hoping that my burst comes through tomorrow... or better yet, this evening! I'm not thrilled about where I am, but to be completely honest with you, part of me thought that I'd never even (the last two words were a palindrome!) hit 10,000, so I'm glad to have stifled that inner critic. Now I've just got to keep it moving and hope for divine inspiration to help me get back on track :)

Ya know, last night I stayed up until I passed my word count from last year so as far as I'm concerned, this year I'm ahead and winning! I'd love to catch up though and not have to stress over having to write 4,000 words in one day! LOL I'm not worried though because I keep telling myself I WILL win! No matter what I am going to win!! And isn't it fabulous not being a slave to your inner editor?? I'm tellin y'all it has made all the difference in the world this time for me....

Peace, Love, and Giggles,
Deanna

I came into this knowing it wasn't likely that I'd win. I found out about it only a week before, so my planning time was nil, I have a two kids and an active family life, and a new production cycle just started at work, which means I'm looking at serious overtime through the rest of the month (we're shorthanded).

Still, my hopes were and are high. And I just passed the 10K mark, so I'm feeling very good about myself. I'll be happy if I finish 50,000 words before Christmas, all that matters is that I'm writing, and it feels GOOD!

I even like my story so far!

Keep it up everyone, and hang in there.

Robert

Well, I'm now into the quintuple digits, and I'm proud to have made it so far, even though I'm 'below the line.' It's been a tough time balancing NaNo with schoolwork, but fortunately I have next week off for Thanksgiving, so I think I have a good chance to catch up once I get home. Of course, my parents don't know that I'm doing this, so getting time to myself might be difficult (my parents are excited to see me.) We'll see how it goes :)

Oy. I just spent all morning catching up on my word count, because I had fallen a little behind (was too tired to write one night, then I had a migraine another night, and yeah...). I'm proud of myself right now, though. Typed over 4,000 words in one sitting. Woo! Granted, though, it took me half the day to get it done, but still! XD

Here's hoping I don't fall behind again, and I sincerely hope that those of you who are behind manage to catch up!

Flippant and smug.

Can I count those words, too?

Yes, my friends throw rocks at me.

Doing research seems to free up my writing enough to surge ahead of schedule. Gotta get the historical facts right.
