Hello from Vancouver!
Just a quick drive-by to put up the super awesome new WORD WAR WIDGET! The supreme awesomeness of this? Is that we can have one widget for our two wars, and it'll show us the average word count!!!
For those of you who haven't heard, we are challenging Montreal and Calgary again this year. We are, as usual, going for average word count (whomever has the highest) and highest percentage of winners. Here's where it stands:

Let's KICK SOME ASS, people!
And I would just like to add, before you get cocky about how far ahead we are - every year, we come out of the gates like maniacs and then slowly descend over the course of the month. The battle isn't won until the clock strikes midnight on the 30th. CONSTANT VIGILANCE!

I do have to comment thought, that Calgary is fearful of us because we have an awesome name. They are totally envious and are trying to come up with something of their own. What makes it a little more amusing is that they are the only ons in Alberta without a cool name, since even Alberta:Elsewehere has a name.

We have hippos too though, which might lend us an additional unfair advantage ;) Love thy hippo!

Definitely constant vigilance, we were close last year, it was scary *shivers*.

Ah, but by the time we finish this year it will be no contest!

What I find amussing is that Kiyoshi pointed out to me a few days ago that Edmonton has something like the second busiest forum in the world, and we still manage to got our word count up enough to beat Calgary and Montreal last year. Of course... I can not take any of the praise for last year since I didn't even get a quarter of the way done...

Does that make us word wasters? All these posts and words that could have been put towards our final word count?

And apparently I cannot type *looks at last post*
Um... maybe? I don't really know how you would incorperate these words into any part of my novel, but some one else might possibly be able to? Eh, whatever, as long as I finish this year, I don't really care how many words I've 'wasted'. And now, to writing!

As a small update (and a bump), just a note that Calgary now has one winner (which is 0.8% of their total), Montreal has two (1.77%), and Edmonton has eleven. ELEVEN. That is 6.04%.
You guys are insane.

... That. Is. Awesome. I knew we had at least five, but I had no idea we had anywhere near eleven. Yay! *claps*

Update:
Edmonton has 15 winners. That's around 8%. (Just over.)
Calgary has 4 winners. That's just over 3%.
Montreal has 6 winners. 5.3%.
However. That's only four more winners for Montreal to CATCH UP! Don't get cocky!!!

*salutes* Yes Ma'am! Writting furiously over here.

Edmonton has 24 winners already out of 188. That's nearly 13%. Calgary has seven winners thus far out of 123 people. That's almost 6%. (And a big jump for them in the last few days!) Montreal has 5 out of 113. (For some reason this is fewer than they had last time I checked. I counted four times!) That's about 4.5%.
Keep it up, folks! We're doing REALLY well!

I will probably be able to add myself to the winners list by tonight. :-) YAY!!!
*EDIT TO UPDATE*
I didn't make it to 50k tonight, but I'm less than 2000 words shy of doing so. In this instance, I'm going to say that it would be best for me to take a short break so I can sleep and regain my momentum for the morrow.
Good luck to all, and I hope I'll be able to come in here tomorrow some time and show off my pretty purple winner bar.

BUMP. Our awesomeness should not slip to the second page.

We have currently got 58 VERIFIED winners (I know there are still some green bars floating around) which gives us a winners' percentage of right around 30%. (Very impressive, guys!)
Calgary has 26. That's about 21%.
Montreal has 25, for a winners' percentage of just about 22%.
That is a LOT CLOSER than it looks, you guys. They both have significantly fewer writers than us this year so every single additional winner for them is nearly another full percentage. We pretty much get another half percent for every person who validates.
Write like the wind, little wrimos! (I am, however, quite confident on the average word count front, but that could get away from us at any moment!)

Oh man, we totally kicked butt on the total and average word count fronts. How about on the percentage front?
