Let's talk.
As you all know, it is my primary passion.
I would like a Derybshire NaNoWriMo discussion of what toots your musical whistle!
I predict that this will end up as me and Starla will just end up saying how awesome MSP are.
But anyway.
Where to start?
I like a lot of music.
It would be too long to list all my many loves, but right now, my darlings, my Cd player is being graced by the likes of:
Radiohead
Nirvana
Saul Williams
Velvet Underground
System Of A Down
Rage Against The Machine
Bob Dylan
Tom Waits
etc.

This had nothing to do with what you think; if you ever think at all.

Well, I listen to anything metal really.
I'm rather hooked on Edguy right now, I just love Tobi.
Lol
----------I don't really want to list my favorite bands, there's too many.

i'll have you know that it's been a while since i listened to nothing but MSP. I have a fabbo collection of vinyl which consists mainly of 70s funk and bruce springsteen. that and weird folk - again from the 70s.
i also have a big thing for miserable singer songwriters. i'm thinking elliott smith, mark kozelek and the like. i got a reputation in my job at the record shop for encouraging them to kill themselves. i'd buy the record and they'd die within the year. it wasn't entirely an unfounded accusation.
of course, if i'm feeling the need to batter my hands a bit more then i'll go and bash out some ben folds on the piano. he is my hero.
otherwise you can find me hiding in the corner of the pub with my harp and the rest of the folkies round here.

Elliot Smith was an excellent songwriter. i think Twilight is one of my favourite songs of all time, no question.
Songwriter-wise I prefer that kind of druggy/alcoholic American poet/muso sort of thing, like Lou Reed, Kurt Cobain, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Jim Morrison, etc (I dunno if Nick Drake is American but you get what I mean)
Kurt Cobain, by the way, is probably my ultimate, ultimate hero. Everything about him just screams modesty, genius, passion and emotion, four things I love in other people. About A Girl is probably my top song ever, full stop.

Nick Drake is most certainly not American. He was an Englishman through and through. A complete genius at guitar tunings. Very classically minded.
I bypassed the whole Nirvana thing.
now i have to watch poliakoff. he is my hero.

That is such a tough question. It depends on my mood, the lyrics, how musically talented they are, whether it reminds me of something... folk, pop, punk, depressing as hell, classical. Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Cash (is GOD). The only things I don't like are thrash, some punk (am happier with the pop or folky/country punk eg Jello Biafra's collaboration with Mojo Nixon), modern rap and r+b and beepy music, oh and most boy/girl bands are a no, but have been caught singing and dancing to some occassionally. Give me a singer and proper instruments and I'm happy.

I'll listen to anything but: rap, hip-hop, r&b, and this skanky music that seems to be popular over here......-_-;;
----------But my main passion is Celtic music. I can listen to that any time. With a temper like mine, Celtic is the only thing that seems to calm me down...well, celtic, and Mo-Tab.("Mo-Tab"=Mormon Tabernacle Choir) Its just the hormony and chils that i get that really make them worth listening to.
I'm in high school, and everyone thinks I'm crazy, (for lack of a better word).
But, yeah, I'll listen to anything that tickels my mood.*^^*

Ash - I love Ash, they are BRILLIANT. Went to see them (again) a couple of weeks ago.
Oh and, you know, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Supergrass, AC/DC, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones... I could go on, but fear I would bore you by listing every single artist in my album collection...

Brainwave. Favourite live music...?
For me...
----------The Magic Numbers (the first time round when they were full of enthusiasm and amazed the audience knew the words. Best technical ability I've seen from a band too. Second time round - meh! not so much, maybe because I was sat down instead of in the crowd though)
Tenacious D (Awesome stage show)
The Selector (70's/80's ska band)
