If you want an excerpt to appear on your Author Info page, go to "Edit Profile" on the top right of the home page, then click on the "Author Info" tab. At the very bottom of the page, there's a box for "Novel Excerpt." Copy and paste the text from your document into that box, then hit "Submit" at the bottom of the page.
If you want to put your novel in the word-count validator, the box above "Novel Excerpt" on that same page is the one you want. Highlight all the text in the document you're writing your novel in, then copy it and paste it into the "Word Count Validator." Then, again, click "Submit" at the bottom of that page.
Hopefully that helps! If you just want to update your word count on the honor system, right above the Word Count Validator is a little box where you can just enter the numbers of your word count from whatever the Word Count tool in your novel document tells you. Then click "Submit."
