It's now officially Week Three. One of the most significant events in some NaNo Novels. Here, we emerge out of the depression, slowness, and dying motivation of Week Two. Now, your characters become comfortable with their story's setting. They befriend other characters without our planning. They... become like real people.

And the plot picks up. It decides it feels like actually becoming a part of the novel... meaning, of course, that we can stop sloshing our way through all the padding for a while. Progress the plot. Commence moving forward. That secondary character that only appeared for one page, yet had its own biography and life's story included in the novel? You can stop talking about that character for just a brief moment. Your plot can move forward a bit... But not too far! Remember: you have to have at least 50,000 word by the end of the month.

That said, take a Tylenol for your headache, and keep wearing the letters off of your keyboard!

This feels a bit early to be Week Three, but okay...

Even so, still feels like Week Two to me. I had a very unproductive day today, and my plot is still moving way too quickly for my liking.

The funny part for me is that week two flowed smoothly and I could not get myself to write today.

I opened a plot emergency envelope because I found myself writing the end of my story. Now one of my charaters is going to be arrested for something he didn't do. As a result he will not belive the main character and this will all my villian free rein to create havoc. If this is week three shouldn' I be past 25000 words? I need to write faster.

You should be at 20,000 by the end of today. That is, according to my calculator. It would be a miracle if I got past 15,000 today. :/

I not only finally hit 20,000 today, but I just barely scraped by the daily goal of 21,671. So yes, you are right about Week Two. The time between 10,000 and 15,000 was especially one long drag that I thought would never end.

I'm going back and adding a few scenes, describing my characters some more, and writing bios for all my characters. Actually, I hadn't described my characters at all... silly me!

Well, things are moving along. I managed to jump from just over 13k on the 11th to where I am today. I know what you're talking about when you say things just dragged along. If only I could come up with more ideas! I have enough left to make another 16k but that leaves me short. It's kind of hard to arrest one of my characters because they are cops... hmmm... maybe that could happen after all.

Why do I feel like I'm running a marathon?

It's going to be more than 50K, i can tell.
*headdesk* And I have 3 , count 'em THREE novels that my editors are yelling for me to edit.
But I'm over 23K. It'll get there. It won;'t be finished when it does, but it will.

For what its worth, I'm still stuck in the quagmire. But that's okay cause once I'm able to break free, I plan to cross the finish line with flyin' colors! And breaking free is what this is all about for me...cp

So...close...I can almost...touch it...
And yet, I continue to fall behind. *cries pathetically*
However, should I be able to write about 3,000 words a day, I should be caught up by the next write-in.
*Bangs head on the keyboard*
Hey! I just added another 10 words!

This post was a wee bit on the early side (week three officially starts today) but everything else is spot on!

If you're still flailing, check your inbox for a pep talk from Sara Gruen (author of Water for Elephants, which was a NY Times #1 Bestseller.) Her NaNo novels become published novels! Fancy that!

Angry Monkey, your word war sig made me laugh. Hee.

Hmmm...haven't gotten anything from Sara Gruen as of yet, just Sue Grafton, Naomi Novik, Tom Robbins, and of course Chris Baty
