One of my characters only speaks Russian and broken English (since he's only just arrived in the US and didn't learn any English back in Russia) and has just come across several dead bodies. Does any one (please?) know a short prayer he could say over them in Russian? Preferably transliterated, since my computer sucks at picking up some cyrillic stuff, but either is well appreciated!

Please?

Um, it's definitely NOT short, but this is the traditional Russian prayer for the dead (from the Orthodox church) entitled Memory Eternal. I know it wouldn't be entirely accurate if you did this, but maybe you could have your character say only part of it?

Or this site discusses the process of praying for the dead as set down in the Orthodox church, and it includes some short phrases from prayers (for example, on Trinity Saturday)

Um, wow, I actually needed something like this, too. Quelle coincidence. And there's already an answer. Sweet.

Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to find.

K8E: Glad to be of service.
