Hi, yes, I am coming to this. I keep up with tha San Francisco thread because my Mother lives there but I am actually coming down from Ashland, Oregon for the event. I am super excited. I've never heard of an event so in line with who i am. A write-a-thon? How fabulous is that?

Yep, I'll be there with bells on!
well, with laptop all fired up and a cushion for the chair and with a plan to cross the 50K finish line that night.
I'm just getting to 20K now, so I've got a LOT to write this week before Saturday night!

Who else is going?

Whoever you are, you'll be starting your second Nano novel by Saturday, given the word count you've already got LOL. Good for you!

I hope to, but not sure I'll be able to for health (disability access) reasons.

I really want to go!!! But....I will be returning from LA that evening (small road trip with some friends) and I don't know if I will be too up for a write-a-thon after a long day in LA...=(

I want to go to the Write-A-Thon so badly though, so I can meet more NaNo people and have enough motivation to finish up the novel then. Halfway there!

I'm hoping to be there too. I am halfway to my goal of raising $200 in charitable donations.

I hope the slots dont all sell out before I get the last donation.

Can't go, have other plans for that night and frankly I'm too embarassed to ask my friends for money. But I will be donating to Nano just like I did last year.

Tonight's the night! are you all able to go? I'm doing word sprints now, to get in the mood and hopefully get some momentum going. Good luck and see you tonight!

I'm very excited and i'm taking a friend, a first time Nano-er as my guest and she's really looking forward to it as well. I think that today I may spend thinking a bit about plot (since my nicely outlined plot completely fell apart and became irrelevant about 7,000 words in) and maybe making a list of what Sara Gruen called in her pep talk "the fun bits". It's so true - get to a boring or stalled part? Skip it and write the fun part, the high emotional points etc. But I figure I could benefit from thinking about what those fun bits are.

hope to see lots of folks tonight! I've never had Red Bull!

That's what I'm doing right now!

not drinking Red Bull [I've never had it either but I think it's probably too early in the morning for that ;-)] -- but writing a list of 'scenes' -- not in any particular order, just anything I can think of that seems to be part of my story [which seems like 3 different stories at the moment, sigh] -- characters, locales, events, plot points, whatever -- as long as I have a list I won't waste time trying to think of what to write next. Real handy for word sprints.

That scene list is a great idea. I'm going to work on that now.

When/where's the next write-in that doesn't cost $200 to attend? I'd love to go to this one but I'm on a student budget right now...

Hi, I'm planning on going, but I wonder if anyone else was able to link to the detail page about the event? Chris sent the email out, but the link was broken.

So I would like that information if someone can forward it from some other source.

Thanks much!

Try at the very bottom of the home page on the right hand side. I just tried it and it worked for me.

Is there any point to bringing a power strip tonight? Or do you think they'll have enough?

I'm bringing three, 12 outlets each, just in case.

on the electrical tip:

Thank you thank you thank you, to bay area nano'ers who helped out by bringing extension cords and power strips! Even if we aren't using your equipment, the reserve and support is important to have.

I'm at the write-a-thon now, and so far we haven't blown up any laptops (heh, that would likely be your Li-Ion battery) or tripped a breaker (that would be my bad)... I think everyone who needs juice is getting juice too (i hope). A hundred 100 watt laptop power supplies can require 10,000W... and the room only has about 7500W available to use through various circuits...

Many thanks to the nanowri'er who came through with donations of the sleek red 10 outlet power strips and the bountiful thick gauge heavy duty extension cables.. you know who you are, and you rock!!!

Yes, thank you to whoever brought those power strips, they were extremely beautiful for somebody like me with a laptop with not-so-good battery life! And thank you for putting on the Write-a-thon in the first place, it was one of the best times I've had in years! AND I got my count up a bit, which helped tremendously!
