Check this out! Russ put together a scoreboard of regions and you can sort it by total words, average words, and donations.

Going by pure words written, we are 44th on the list. That's out of the whole WORLD people! Pat yourselves on the back!

But if you go by average word count, we drop to 72nd. That's behind France, behind Naperville IL, and behind the county of Essex in England (Americans tell Blonde jokes, we Brits tell Essex Girl jokes). Essex!

So, buck up your keyboards and get typing, we have some ground to catch up. How are you doing? What's your word count? And can we have a sneak preview? Post something in your profile as a novel excerpt.

Go St Louis! Do it for the Pointy Stick!

I got off track for awhile, but so far today alone I have added more than 3000 words to the word count and though that might not seem like much to some of you more prolific wordsmiths (PAUL), I don't intend to go to bed tonight until that number rises another 3000 to 5000 words God willing.

This scoreboard was truly great to see, and I personally got a huge kick from scrolling down to the bottom of the list to the Africa: Elsewhere entry where based on the total word count and the average word count, all indications are that there is one individual doing the damn thing for Africa: Elsewhere. I'd love to be that person with enough self-motivation to BE THE REGION! To that person whoever he or she may be I say YOU ARE MY IDOL!!!!

Lacking that kind of self-motivation myself, I'm about to be off to the first unofficial NoCo Word Rage at the Bread Co. NoCo where dramatic things are sure to happen to the St. Louis region's word counts in the next few hours. Wish us luck!!!

Millions and millions of word, Oh my!
Sharon

I'm so horribly disappointed in our overall donations to date. Only $210? We can do better than that!

Guys, we're getting our butts kicked in average word count by frakking Ashland, Ohio. I interviewed for a job there--it's a little podunk two horse town.

We cannot let these people kick our butts. Everyone get writing!! :)

We're now 43rd in word count! Immediately ahead are Michigan Elsewhere and Canada Ontario Elsewhere, then Sweden. We can take Sweden, I know we can!

No move on the average per person ranks though. Asia/Sri Lanka is heading that pack, well out in front of the next contender, the Bahamas!

Another update in a couple of days, get writing people!

OK people, as of about 8pm tonight we are:

44th in total word count (2,211,723)
93rd in average words per active person (16,505)
with a total of $240 donated.

I think we need a little work! Flagstaff AZ and Greeley CO are next above us in words per person, Orange County CA and Ontario Elsewhere are next above us in total words.

Are you going to let them beat us! Write hard, write for the Pointy Stick!

And in other news, this is the state of play with our various Word Wars:

I think InjunJoe is safe from having to set foot in Indiana, but I'd like more of a margin if we can muster it up...
