Hey guys.
I hope all things being equal, you are close too or past half way through your most excellent Nanonovels by this time. I've just made it to 30K myself, and the end is finally feeling in reach. It's downhill from here!
Now I know I haven't finshed yet, cos you'd know it if I had, but I know some of you have, so here is the thread to let everyone know when you finished, how you felt your November novelling went (how your characters behaived, how much editing you've got for the next 11 months etc) and what you plan to do now you've finished.*
So get to it, and tell us how it feels!
Ray
* with the hopeful effect of spuring the rest of us on to the finish line!

*signs name with a flourish*
Although the story itself is not finished, I just couldn't resist (After GriffinWolf told me of the thread's existance) entering and being the first to sign the guest book.
When I crossed the line: About 7:30pm last night.
How it went: I'm still working out whether I should kill my characters. Other than that, it went great! Except for falling back 10k after the computer deleted all my files...
Character behaviour: Well, they love to just fight me, but since thair ideas are usually better than mine, most of the time I let them go free.
Editing: So much. And mum wants to edit it, and my friend wants to read it when the story's finished. Without even fixing the spelling mistakes, she said. Eeep.
What I'll do after the story's finitosed: Edit, Work on it a little more and share it around to interested parties, eventually starting to set about getting it published.
Oh, and I got to 50k in 15 days, Maxtac! Match indeed! *happy dance*
Yeah, I can't let that one go.

*Pant pant* I'm here, I'm here *runs up* Hey, wow! Finally! I mean, this was all very fun, but the lack of sleep and total - *collapses*
Oh dear. I'm not going to be able to finish this post. Hopefully I can now finish my story. *high fives MythicWriting* I set myself a challenge of 20 days, and i made it! Though on day 19, i was sick and total word count was 0. so on day 20 i had to do another 5k day. I did 4 of them! they each nearly killed me!
A little word of encouragement to all of you who haven't finished yet - this is so great! Sitting here, writing because i want a book, not counting words (thought that's now habit - damn!) So everyone, come on! Come join the party thread!
*Holds up hand for high fives* Anyone with me?

Ok, despite my other two posts in this thread, I'm now here OFFICALLY!
That's right, just after a word war at the 3rd Mac Uni write in, about 8pm ESuT Au, I passed 50K. *phew*
When I crossed the line: 8pm on Wednesday, 21st November 2007.
How it went: Was a bit of a strugle this year. I wanted to keep up with Mythic, but after only reaching half my goal in the first 6 days, and having bugger all idea where my plot was headed, it took me another week to get a story out of my premise. But I did it!
Character behaviour: Some went from good guys to bad guys, and some went from bad guy s to good guys, and others just appeared cos they felt like it. All in all the cats were hearded fairly well, though. Editing: Well I'll have a go at this once I get it finished - as usual I've crossed the line before my story was done. First edit for continuity, second for pacing. Then i give it to my gf to crucify! *eep*
What I'll do after the story's finsihed: Well it may be a few months and probably another 25K before it's done done, so I'm planning to have a week off writing to do stuff for the TGIO party (yes it will happen!) and then spend more time with my long suffering girlfriend. God bless her.
Well I'm off to run a few more word wars, and spur on all the wordcounts in the room. Good luck to you all and strive for your own personal victory!

Done! Done done done! Die, bitch!
*whew* That felt good. It's been a 5,000 word day, but I just couldn't stop until I finished the damn thing. I had wanted it to be longer than 50,000 words, and I was expecting it to hit 60,000, but it wrapped up at 50k nearly on the dot. But that said, my chapters got shorter and less patient towards the end, so perhaps some sober editing and rewriting will fill them out a bit.
So I'm done and what do I have? A novel with an eating disorder. But never fear, the Christmas season will fatten it up a bit and I might even have something readable by the New Year.
I'll enjoy the last days of November taking a much-earned break, and wishing well to all the NaNoers who are on the brink of crossing the 50k line. I missed the kick-off party, but I'll see you all at the TGIO party or dammit life isn't worth living!

Yay, winner!
When I crossed the line: Around 1:45pm, on Tuesday, November 27, 2007.
How it went: It was my first year doing this, and I only found out about it 3 days before it actually started (exactly a month ago, in fact), so I didn’t really have any plan. I just had an idea, and I ran with it. Well, I kinda walked with it at the start. Then I left it on the pavement while I went to do some chores. And then with half of the month gone, I realized that I needed to get a move on and did a lot of 3-5k word splurges. In the end, I managed to get through many distractions such as life and work and finally became a novelist. Woohoo!
Character behaviour: For the most part, my characters behaved pretty well, though a few of them decided to surprise me, thus taking the story to places I didn’t expect. It was fun watching where they would end up.
Editing: Most of my edits were simple spelling and grammar issues (of which I suspect there is still a lot). I also did a tiny bit of continuity editing on the go, but I think I’ll wait at least a month before I even begin to think about editing it wholesale.
What I'll do after the story's finished: It’s actually done now, and I think it’s time for me to finally relax. It’ll be nice not having to worry about the story anymore, at least for the time being. Sleep is the top of the agenda.

----------How it went: Fantastically! Not a single moment of writer's block, a minor fit of, "OH GREAT I'M UP TO THE BORING CHAPTERS" halfway through, but that was resolved better than I expected, and I only hate one chapter! :D
Character behaviour: Very well behaved. Thank you, dears.
Editing: Got to edit, expand, refine, expand, fine tune and did I mention expand? I reckon I can get 75k out of it - maybe even 100k!

I finished just a few minutes ago.. i had just under 5000 words to write, and kept writing....
I was not totally happy with my ending, but then the last few thousand words came quick, there was no need for any epilogue which i thought would have to go in to finish the story off!
But hey, after 3 years of trying and failing, this being the first year i went in with literally a 1 sentence outline of the entire story, i am quite happy with myself.
Now... i plan to not look at it till after christmas, then i will begin editing this monster :)

Hi all, posting for the first time just for the fun of seeing "winner" under my name!
When I crossed the line: about midday on the 30th -- recently enough that I'm still grinning.
How it went: the middle was hard, there was a lot of writing there that felt like pulling teeth as I tried to figure out the plot. There were a couple of scenes that were a joy to write -- hopefully with practice more of them will feel like that.
Character behaviour: two of my main characters decided towards the end that they were related, so there'll be a bit of retrofitting there, but I think they're right that it's better that way. Overall I think my characters were too nice to each other. I'll have to go back and build in more conflict.
What I'll do after the story's finished: I think I have maybe another 20,000 words to write to finish the first draft. About the last 1,000 is in summary form at the moment -- just ran out of time to write it all out, but at least I know where I'm going with it. When that's done there'll be rewriting and editing, but first -- Christmas! All those things I've been putting off during November have just made it to the top of the to-do pile!

I finished Just. Then.
And lo, it was good.
Finally- i think if i'd given up again this year i'd have... well, i dunno for sure. But it would have been drastic!
I got through it by promising myslef half way through that if i made it, i'd never have to show it to anyone, no matter what, until it was severly edited. *laughs*
Now that it's done, though, i feel almost... fond... of my dribbling novel. Oh, love.

Okies.
I'm done for now ^_^

How it went
My fifth attempt at NaNoWriMo, my second victory - and the most interesting NaNo-experience I have had thus far. I went in with 37 pages of planning; I was a Co-ML; I wrote with other people in a public place on three separate occasions; I wrote over 900 words about a character having a shave; and despite days lost to work pressures, time in hospital and other demands, I still managed to churn out 50,000 words by midnight 30 November (just, although not as nail-bitingly late as last year - at 11:29pm after almost six non-stop hours of fast and furious writing).
As well, having a completed plan (for once) enabled me to write my novel in a very different fashion than before - all over the place. If a scene became too much of a grind, or if different inspiration struck me, I would simply move on to another. Thus, my novel is presently a collection of fragments - I have written the ending, but the begining is only half-done and there is a huge yawning gap in the middle.
