I've never been one of those types to be active on the NaNo forums. Or any kind of forum, really. But I thought I ought to introduce myself, that way people might have some idea of what to expect should I be able to make it to one of the write-ins. ;)
Anyway, hello. I'm Leigh, but enough people have called me 'Tadiera' in real life that it suits me equally well. I have been participating in NaNo since 2001. In fact, it was only this year that I found I have profile # 175 (maybe it's lame that it makes me giddy to have such a low number. Hush.). The first year, I didn't bother to register on the site, though, because I was so unsure of myself.
And despite all those years of attempts... I've never made it to 50k. I'm get distracted too easily. I'm too critical of my own work. And I have some of the weirdest luck in the world which means my life gets very busy and somehow, every November, I find myself with barely even enough time to think, let alone write.
From October 2004 to this past September, I had lived in the Cincinnati region. I moved down here to the Greenville area (specifically, Spartanburg) due to health issues. Fibromyalgia and other "wonderful" things I won't bore you with made it next to impossible for me to live on my own and work full-time. So I quit my job and moved back in with my parents. Just in time, too, because I've been sick about every other week since I got here. It's a barrel of laughs, lemme tell ya. (Except. It's not.)
Anyway. Because of the health issues, most days I cannot trust myself with driving. Hence my lack of appearing at any write ins thus far. However! That has not stopped me. Instead, thus far, this NaNo is my best. Here I am, preparing to go to bed at the end of the 15th, the halfway mark, and I have gotten to 30k. 4k last night got me to 26 and I thought I'd be set if I didn't write today. I sat down a few hours ago to finish up the "scene" I'd paused in the middle of last night and... well, here I am. Another 4k words later.
Ahem. So. You can see that I can be quite wordy and boring. I apologize. I just wanted to force myself to make some kind of post so I'm not regarded as a complete hermit. In fact, I'd like to try to make it to at least one gathering before the end of this whole deal and it'll make it easier if I "get to know" some of ya.

Greetings Tadiera, I'm Kimberli, formerly of the G'ville Nanites but now of the NC: Elsewhere region. Ialso grew up in No. Ky, under the shadow of Carew Tower and Riverfront Stadium. I hope you get to attend the write-ins; you won't believe how much you have in common with members of this group.
Brittany, did you note the Cincinnati to G'ville move? Stunning, isn't it? :o)

Why are you apologizing for being wordy? This is a forum for writers! Anyway, I'm glad to hear from you and I'm sorry you've been so sick. However, I can see that hasn't stopped you from doing an exceptional job this month - well done! Thirty thousand is a good feeling, isn't it? Welcome to the party!

Finally, you say? I've been here all along! I just didn't bother to open my mouth right away. :D
I didn't grow up in the Cincinnati region. I grew up near DC/Baltimore. I moved to the Cincinnati area when I was 18. :D But, I think it's thus far, of all the places I've lived (even the brief less-than-a-year stints), it's my favorite. :) Who knows, that may change. I've only been in the Greenville region for a month and a half.

Where do you live? Maybe one of us could pick you up for one of the events. I have so much more fun doing this WITH people. I did this last year but didn't attend anything, and am having a blast. And don't apologize for geeky giddiness, ahem, I think you'll find more of that as well!

Welcome! I used to live near Greenville, but I moved over the summer. *Sigh*
The Greenville group is awesome! I hope you can join in on the activities.

I'm right near Spartanburg. Duncan, specifically. :)
I'll be trying my best to make it tomorrow, but no guarantees right now.
