I know it is week three and that in about two weeks time NaNo will be over but I am having troubles sitting down at my computer to write my 1,667 words for the day. I am finding myself procrastinating by playing games on the computer, cleaning the house, cooking meals from scratch and many other types of distractions that keep me away from the computer.
I was wondering does anyone else have the same problem that I do and how do you overcome these gremlins when they strike?
Take care,

I'm definitely in the same boat. I end up watching videos online, playing Spider Solitaire, chatting to friends and doing some drawing. I keep trying to get back to my writing but I've gotten to a part thats a lot harder to write than I thought. So I'm going back and adding in chapters, or beefing out some of what I have, just to get some kind of word count each day.

I am procrastinating and writing! I'm not sure quite how I'm managing to do both. I am setting myself smaller targets while i am at the computer - once I've written another 200 words I can go get a drink, just get it to x thousand and take a longer break. By letting myself take plenty of breaks I get time to rearrange cupboards, pay bills, go shopping etc. - but I have to make the target first! When it is working I pass the target without noticing and add a whole load more - when it doesn't I am checking the word count every fifty words and whining 'are we there yet'. If I have spent more than ten minutes just staring at it with out wrting anything I get up and walk around... I am also writing in the morning before work, at lunchtime and in the evening (divided into two chunks with internet playtime in between!). Might not work for you but it seems to be working for me!

2007 - Dark Masters: Smoke - sci-fi smut
(I'm better at the unfinished part than the smut part!)

There's no wireless Internet in our house. I take my laptop downstairs, or into the spare room, and work there.
(Actually Freecell is quite handy for distracting my brain when I'm percolating about some plot point or other, I've found.)

I find that deciding to simply stop writing and go and do some other job is often the trigger that begins some kind of Mousetrapesque process in my mind. Around half an hour later I get snippets of dialogue or prose popping into my head, stuff that just would not come when I was sat staring at the words.
It's a bit like having the name of a song on the tip of your tongue. Go and do something else and it comes to you.

Today I have been wasting time by drooling over Neil Gaiman's photograph on the Pep Talks page.
Fortunately I'm at work so I haven't been avoiding doing anything important.
