Hello all!

It seems a long way away, and I suppose it is, but I like to think early about the TGIO (Thank God It's Over) Party. I think last year it was in York, but I know from Leeds meet ups that some people want to have it in Leeds (because we in Leeds are a lazy lot)

Also, what day? I'm thinking either the 1st or 2nd December - the Saturday or Sunday after Nano finishes, and as for time, I think the afternoon would mean that most people can make it.

And, what would you all like to do? In Manchester we all went to Pizza Hut last year, which was lots of fun, and involved pizza, which to me is a good thing, but any ideas on this as well?

So, please cast your votes as to when and where you would like it, and when you can make it as well! I want to get as many people along as possible!

Well, me and my sister are free during the afternoon on both Saturday and Sunday. If the TGIO party is in York, on Saturday, we won't be able to go because we're singing in a cabaret (she with our choir, me with the choir and solo) in the evening. I'd invite you all to come, because generally the cabarets are dead fun and there'll be food and drink, but we've got an oddly tiny venue this time round and it's not terribly convenient for... virtually anyone, including ourselves. Otherwise, we're good (though cripplingly nervous).

To summarise:
Leeds - Saturday - Two yes votes
Leeds - Sunday - Two yes votes
York - Saturday - Two no votes
York - Sunday - Two yes votes

I appreciate the thought that was mentioned on Saturday, and want to mention it again -- that those who have gone to meet ups could have more weight when it comes to deciding on the TGIO party (because they'll almost definitely turn up if they say they're going to). :)

P.S. Leeds would probably be the best option for us: we're not terribly wealthy and I have yet to pass my driving test. But if everyone decides York, we'll do our best.

Oh -- and pizza hut would be good, and it'd be a change from meeting up in a coffee shop. I can't remember what was done last year, 'cause I couldn't make it. :(

Well, this being the York and Leeds group, it's normal I think to have the opening party in Leeds and the closing one in York. So for me, my votes would go for York on Saturday, or York on Sunday (Sunday being the better of the two options). I'll come to Leeds if that ends up being the majority decision, but you lazy lot should come here for a change! ;)

I prefer Leeds mainly beacuse I am terribly incompetent when it comes to finding places, I have lived in Leeds for practically my whole life and still get lost. >.<
However if somebody would be willing to meet me and take me by the hand to ensure I don't get lost then I will go to wherever the forum decides.
I don't mind about venue, I don't eat pizza but I am sure there will be non-pizza and non-cheese related products?
I did hear though that there is some kind of ice-cream factory extravaganza thing at Pizza Hut, I'll just eat there lol.
So apart from being extremely fussy and quite incompetent I am quite happy to go with the consensus, as long as it involves chocolate, cake or ice-cream!
Hope to see you all soon,
Elaine. xxx

I prefer Leeds too, again because it's on a direct train line. However York is no problem if we want to go for that, and I have to admit I'd love an excuse to go there.

If it's going to be York, though, I'd prefer Saturday since the trains are more frequent and I'm going to have to make a connection in Leeds.

Not a great weekend for Wombat or me, really.

Wombat is simply not here - away with his choir...

I'm singing in a concert in York on Saturday night but could do Sat afternoon in either York or Leeds (York preferably).

Sunday is no good as I shall be going to Halifax to see Wombat's choir performance.

York's better for me. Like JellyWellington said, we did Leeds for the kick off party, so it would be nicer to have something a bit nearer home for the TGIO party.

Either Sat or Sun works in the afternoon.

Saturday afternoon in Leeds works for me. But York, though further out, isn't impossible, and I can probably do Sunday too if I'm given a fair bit of warning so I can sort out transport.

If, y'know, I can bear to drag myself there. Cos I don't think I'll be finishing...

My mum went and booked me in for a haircut on the Saturday, so Sunday/Leeds or Sunday/York seem better, but I could still make it for Saturday/Leeds.

As much as I would like to be lazy and stay in Leeds, there seem a fair few who prefer or can get to York, so I think it'll be in York. Magenta would be able to come if it's in York too hopefully, which'd be good. I think it's fairer to have it in York if the kick off was in Leeds.

I'm nominate Sunday as the day, as it seems quite a lot of you can do that (and I will really struggle to do Saturday).

So initially - Sunday 2nd December in the afternoon. However, I don't know York. Anyone want to help out with venue suggestions? It'd really help, otherwise I'll be pretty stuck!

The TGIO party is open to everyone, regardless of whether or not you completed the 50k. Those of us who've failed can be just as glad that it's over...

I should be there, wherever the venue, whether it's in York or Leeds, and can do either Saturday or Sunday (though Sunday for preference I think).

If we go on like this, there'll be no TGIO, as I have no idea where to hold one. I don't know York at all - I know that you are all writing hard at the moment, but I really need help on this to make it work - please?!

I need a good location - suitable for all ages, where we can all sit and talk together easily. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know where they had it last year? If it was in York someone in the group from last year must know.

Last year it was in the upper room of the Black Swan public house, which was free to hire. Don't know if it's available this year - can someone try finding out?

I'll try, but I have a job interview (including a presenation) to prepare for the 29th, and then I go away on the 30th all day, until the 1st. Got so much to do - if someone could volunteer to help out then I'll love them forever!

It's OK, I work near the Black Swan, I'll pop in at lunchtime and see if they're free.

Nope, they're full up for Sunday.

Any other ideas? There are other pub-type places that have function rooms but most are horrible "All Bar Slug & Piano 38" type bars. And I've no idea if/what they charge for the room.

Pizza Hut was mentioned and I've suggested Jumbo's Chinese Buffet, but if we want to book there they're going to need numbers.

Can we have a straw poll on how many people are actually thinking of coming? As has been mentioned earlier, you don't have to have finished (I'm coming and look at my puny wordcount total).

I'm almost certainly coming, though I hate chinese food (and Jumbo's restaurant - too many really bad work do's!) - Pizza Hut would be fine though!
So Yes I'll be coming if it's a pub or a pizza
No, I'll give it a miss if it's at Jumbo's.

I'd love to come but cannot. I will try to clear my diary for next year. I didn't sign up until mid-October this year and by then it was too late.

Hope you all have a fantastic time.

I should be along, even though it looks like I won't get cheap advance tickets. Eh, I'll live (even if those gits at work underpaid me! I feel soooo appreciated, Next...), and I want to be there so I will. I missed out on last year's party, I want to make it this time!

I like the idea of a pub or Pizza Hut. Not so big on the Chinese as I'm not really into that food, but I'd probably show up anyway.

(edit) Oh yeah, is anyone else coming into York by train so we can meet at the station again?

If we're coming down on the side of a pizza hut on sunday, then is anyone else bringing children? I might be able to join in if I can bring my cheerleading section.

I'd love to come if us people from Leeds will be meeting at the station and then heading to York together.
I am, as I have mentioned before, very, very good at getting lost lol!
If it is Pizza Hut are there non pizza and non cheese related products on the menu?
I'm far too fussy for my own good!
Very much looking forward to seeing people there,
So, (hopefully) meeting people at the Leeds Train Station and then meeting people in York.
Until Sunday,
Congratulations to all who have finished and Best Of Luck to all still going!

There is a PIzza Hut in York:
14 Clifford Street, York, North Yorkshire, England, YO1 1RD Tel: 01904 646361
It has wheelchair access too.

How would that be? If it's a yes, I need numbers so I can book - at the moment I have no idea. Please PM/post etc. if you haven't already and if you want to come.
Also, what time? How is 2pm, or is that too late?
