Who's crossed the finish line in the IE?
It turns out that for me, word wars were the way to go, I got way ahead on a couple days, so I had time to take a day off for a trip to Disneyland.
Come on, folks, if you've got a green bar (or purple after the 25th), do a little bragging and pat yourselves on the back!

I'm certain a Word War would have helped me this year. I'm still behind, but more than halfway there, which is a step up from last year! I'll catch up, but I think I'll fall short of my personal goal of 75K. Oh well!

But a second novel? That's a bit much... at least for me! Good luck with it. Is the new one related to your current NaNo novel?

My second novel is totally different, different Genre, One is chick Lit, the other is a Ghost story.
But I've set them both in Riverside, and I even have the characters frequenting the same places. Kind of a fun process.
I'm up to 30K on the second novel, and having a ball.

I hit 50K last night!!!! Wooohoooo!!!!
Just in time to catch a cold and feel lousy all day today :) But I don't care....I have 50,000 words that I didn't have last month!!!
No second novel for me though. One was enough for this month. I don't even want to go back and edit it right now. But I will probably read an excerpt at the TGIO party :)

Phew! Made it to the 50k mark today... :-D
But like others, I'm a long way from finished on the rest of the novel - I'm somewhere around mid-way, with a lot more left to do, so I'll keep on writing until I'm finished. And after that, I have all the notes I scribbled down while I was writing, of things I need to fix, or things I meant to put in and completely forgot, of people who were supposed to be there and aren't, or - in one case - a complete setting that I made a total arse of, and will need to completely rebuild in the edit. And those short stories I've been putting on hold, of course. And a shower, I must remember to go and get a shower...
Still, them's the breaks, eh?
It's my first shot at NaNoWriMo, so I'm glad it's worked out! I just hope I can put the final polish on this one so that it's actually worth reading...

Hello All You Beautiful NaNoWriMo'ers!
Word 50,091: THE
Word 50,092: END
Mental note of word 50,093: Yippeeeeeeee!! =)
There's actually a story hidden within my 50K words. A plot that is full to overflowing with holes. Characters that I love and at least one that I love to hate. A setting that seems a great place to live. Humor. Danger. Rage. It's all in there, but oh - what an enormous need for the editorial process!
I'll take a break and decide later whether or not to edit what I have or simply let it stand as my very first crappy NaNoWriMo Novel. I hope to find the energy to turn it into something. Of course it would balloon to at least 100K words with the much needed re-write. But even if I don't edit, I'm so very happy to have participated and to have finished!
I don't post here often because the forums don't like me, but please know that I am standing here (or sitting here as the case may be) rooting for each and every one of you! Keep writing! You can do it!!
=) Eric

Crossed the 50k mark over the weekend. I got kicked out of Starbucks in Moreno Valley when they claimed they were understaffed (despite the lack of customers) when I was just 600 words shy of the goal.
The story's still growing, though.
Woo-Hoo!

Do we know if Lulu is going to do a free book again this year? If so, how do we sign up? If not, what do they charge for one book?

Wow, BeanieCopter, talk about overachieving! I'm very impressed!!
In other news: Bad news. No free book offer this year.
Here's the email from Tavia:
It looks like Amazon flaked on their offer. They literally dropped off
the planet. And Lulu did too. I would hit up your local print shops
though! Sorry.

Wow, Beanie is CRAZY! I wish I could have started another one. I am letting my brain rest. My story is actually finished at just over 50k. I have another novel in the works from more than 2 years ago. I will apply all I have learned the last 2 years from creative writing courses and all the books I have read, to finish it. As for this one, I have more tid bits to add, alot of editing. The whole thing has underlined green squiggles every now and then. Then comes the re write!! Congrats to all and I hope everyone gets published... after me. Okay, I'm awake now!

I'm writing two novels, too! I made the mistake of writing them at the same time, instead of one after the other, so now they're both stalled at 44,633 words! Darn!
Next time I'll dictate one while writing the other, that might save time and give me enough extra to start a third!

Hit 52,681 tonight. This is my first year but I have to say that I was truly inspired by one of my co-workers who introduced me to nonowrimo a few months ago and we have been writing buddies even though we live in opposite ends of the state.
Am I the only one who had a moment where I cried out of sheer, relief, and the realization that I had finally met a lifelong goal? Now I'm just thrilled that I've completed it and proved to myself that I CAN DO THIS!

I'm done. I finished. I know that since I have to get up for work in 5 hours that sleep should be my priority, but it just isn't. It's the mark of a writer, I guess, to finish a novel (the first draft anyway) and to have no one to call in the middle of the night. Writing is a lonely business. And a rewarding one.

This was my first NaNo try, and ten days ago I didn't think I would do it. I wasn't even half-way, and I knew I wouldn't be able to write for days, and I didn't have a clue where it was going, but...YAAAY!
I'm done!
I finished early even. I'm thrilled.
At the end it was so fun. Really fun. The way it was when I wrote my very first novel.

I just finished writing my 50,410th word. This book has a lot of editing that needs to be done before I go looking for an agent, but I couldn't be happier right now.
This has been an awesome experience. And I'd like to thank all the people I've met for being so wonderful.
Thanks NaNoWriMo!!!!!!

First time ever. I'm so happy, I cried a little when I saw the "you won" page.
My novel still needs a lot of work before it is complete, but I made it past the finish line. Hells yeah.
