Main idea:

I guessed it was my father ’s orders again, a reminder that I would have to obey Josiah as my king one day and that I might start showing him more respect now, both for his sake and my sister’s. I had first met Josiah shortly before his wedding to Hannah, and it was immediately obvious that we would never be friends or anything approximating brothers.

The first one: a good way of recognizing which phrases are overused. (By the way, that "island country" is in there because I'm constantly saying {island country to the southeast} because it WON'T TAKE A NAME.) And "how to make sense" indeed. My characters are doing nothing of the kind.

The second one: creepily accurate. Extremely creepily accurate. o.o;;
