Claire West (17/18). Studying music and working in a guitar shop part time. Singer, songwriter, highly perceptive and mature for her age, self-assured to the point of belligerence but sensitive about her age.

Jamie Brock, 30. Once was a bartender, now a hermit recluse that's a farmer. Lives on a land plot that's over 1,000 acres, called Oblivion.
Rose Sunney, 28. A budding author who is the ex-fiance of Jamie and gets stuck living with him throughout the winter...and then the spring and summer and fall...

Jacob Talbot, Lord Harrington. A man of pride and propriety, he has past mistakes that have yet to come to light. These and his pride are the cause of a much too stiff neck, though he is by nature not at all proper in the way society sees, he has an honor which will serve him well, nevermind saving Caro.

Caroline Johnston, an orphan who grew up with loving relatives. She is impetuous and has not quite grown up or let go of her grief for her parents. These traits tend to get her into a lot of trouble, thus needing rescued by someone with a more level head, ie Jake.

Sébastien Dior, 18 year old male who is in the same year as Alix and secretly has a crush on Alix.

I don't think I'll elaborate much on their relationship, but I'll hint at it and such.

Poppy [Paws] Roché, 17 year old female who is doing her A Levels at her school in Toulouse. She recieves a letter from Edward Manning which tells her that she has to go to England in a few months time, with the one person she hates the most . . .
Christophe LaCroix, 19 year old male who used to be friends with Poppy for six months when she was four and a half, but they both started hating each other once their fathers became business rivals.

I realised the other day that I'd inadvertently made this story so much like Romeo and Juliet . . . I didn't mean to! XD

Pairing #1:

Erik Larson and Amy Carylye

Erik is a serial killer masquerading (successfully) as a (successful) productivity consultant for business of all sizes. He is 28, has been killing for 14 years, and aside from a few (large) emotional/psychological issues and more impulse control, all parts are completely intact and disease free ; )
Amy is an ambitious lawyer who is waiting for that one big case that will get her some national notice who is slowly sliding into complete and utter obsession with following and trying to work out the mystery of The Slasher's (Erik's) case, though she refuses to acknowledge or admit the fact.

Pairing #2: (Which shouldnt even count, its only hinted at)

Damien Sanders and Sinh Lao

Damien Sanders is an FBI agent assigned to the Slasher case. He's been married for three years and has a 3 month old daughter at home, though he is rarely there because of the intensity with which he immerses himself in his work. Recently, though, he's been wondering if more time at home wouldnt be welcome...

Sinh Lao is a Vietnamese-American who works for the FBI on the Slasher case. He is Damien's partner, the most closeted man in existence, and head over heels in love with his happily married partner.

Kit [Age 19-22? during the relationship]: writer, met Damen at University, died of some terminal disease (plot never goes in depth).

Pete [27]: poet / pirate; thin, moody; French.
Patrick [22]: younger, chubby, patient to put up with Pete; French.

Jon [21]: Third Mate on pirate ship; older; alcoholic; thought to be crazy; kills himself;

Ronald Orson (36) - A journalist for a newspaper in London. Married for ten years. Passive and also a lot selfish.
Bryony Callahan (18) - Works at her mother's bakery and practically owns her father's bed and breakfast. A bit flighty, absolutely no friends and very intuitive.

The more I write them, the more I adore these two.

Jocelyn York, a paparazzo vacationing in Wyoming

There's lots of angst because paparazzi ran Hunter and his then-wife off the road while they were on their motorcycle, and his then-wife died. He's pretty upset when he finds out Jocelyn is a paparazzo.

I'm writing a Myster novel but the more I write the more I realize that it's chalk full of ROMANCE, so, yeah, don't kill me for posting here, please.

Daniel- A 20-year-old boy, born and raised in San Diego, California whose a local vet and Naturalist and now going back to school for a criminology degree so he can track down illegal hunters and poachers
Emily- A 17-year-old girl born in San Diego, California but spent most of her time traveling around Europe whose going to school for her criminology and 'detective' degrees.

Okay. So. Yeah. It doesn't SOUND so exciting. Bare with me here, I'm hoping it gets some where. *crosses fingers* I love them lots.

Don't worry, Beyond..., romance writers usually don't kill people - except the ones who're writing romantic suspense! ;-)

Okay, I'm writing a fantasy novel, but I still have several pairings :)

Terae/Myrren
Terae is 18 (at the time), famous when she was 13 for killing a monster (yeah, I know), and basically very bored with her life; Myrren is 35, married, the father of three teenaged children (one of whom, his oldest daughter, later becomes Terae's best friend). This pairing scared me a bit because he's almost abusive with her, and Terae, who I thought wouldn't take crap from anyone, ended up tolerating it. However, I still loved Myrren, even though he was slightly crazy. He had to die, though. I cried when I killed him off, which is a first for me.

Ellen/Toren
She's 22, he's 27, and this is, in my opinion, the most normal pairing in the novel. Initially I intended for Ellen to be with another man, but she decided not to be and I had to break the other guy's heart. :( Don't you hate it when characters do things you don't want them to?

Main pairing:
Henry, vampire, looks like 29 or something and Felicitas, 24, university student

Second pairing:
Henry and Judith, 19, student -> just for biting

And my third and only gay pairing, just mentionet once so far:
Ethan, 31, friend of Feli and Pascal (was he called Pascal? *has to check*)

This is a pairing for my upcoming story...

Tristan/Adrian (one-sided)

Adrian, 20, is a homosexual male who has an obsessive crush on his friend Tristan, 22. Adrian is an upbeat person with high energy, alot of ambition and very persistant. His hair is dark auburn and his eyes are brown. Despite his quirky nature, Adrian is actually very good at chess. He has a twin sister named Ariel.
Tristan is more of the quiet, brooding type, who observes his surroundings carefully and is slow to trust people. He's handsome, but has low self esteem and isn't very social. He is subconciously based off of me in personailty and a guy I had a crush on in the past. He has light brown hair and blue eyes. Lianne is the name of Tristan's younger half sister (18), while Johnathan (29) is the name of his older brother.
I might create an alternate short story putting Adrian and Tristan together and writing how their families react. Should be fun...

Tristan/Sasha

Adrian learns later in the story that Tristan would never like him back and decides to set him up with a girl named Sasha, 21, a comic book artist with golden blonde hair with multiple colored streaks. Her eyes are grey/blue with few green flecks. Despite her bright and happy exterior is a girl desparate for attention. She was put up for adoption at birth and lived with an adopted family until she was an adult. Sasha does not know her biological family well. She doesn't whine constantly about missing her parents, but does sorely wish to meet them.

Sasha sounds a bit like a Mary-Sue, but once I develop her she *hopefully* won't be a Mary-Sue and a well balanced, lkeable character.

Samuel (formerly "Peter", formerly "Stephen", formerly "Don". Was single teen parent, son died of leukemia. Hobbies, rockhounding, amateur paleontologist. Resides in New Mexico, plays guitar)

Linnette Barker-(age 18-26)- after aiden pushed her away, she went to college, married and had a son, husband dies in car accident, returns to hometown.

Mine only has one main pairing this time, thankfully. My last novel had a love triangle in it plus other couples--that was hard to keep straight.

Actually, now that I think about it, this one has a few pairings. Grr...

Kat (short for Katherine) Lynn Carter Robertson - 21 y/o computer hacker who just survived six months with a psychopath
Aidan Murphy - 26 y/o con artist/bodyguard who rescued Kat from psychopath and has been helping her to recover ever since

Pairing #2:

Nikki/Trevor

Nikki Callahan - late 20s/early 30s assassin who is having a fling with her boss and believes Kat is trying to steal her boss away
Trevor Watkins - late 30s/maybe 40s owner of assassination company who is known for sleeping around with other women

Pairing #3:

Miranda/Aidan

Miranda Brennan - 21 y/o assassin who is Kat's opposite--her split personality actually--who is using Aidan against Kat and planning to kill him as well
Aidan Murphy - 26 y/o con/artist bodyguard who is happily married to Kat and has no idea that her split personality can take over her

Ok pairings. Well from the one i'm currently writing

Main series

Major Pairing 1: A princess and the head of her honour guard. No sex, a kiss and a LOT of tension. His love for her drives pretty much the entire plot, mainly in that it drives his actions. Not happy ending at all.

Major pairing 2: a happily non married couple who've been together two years and have two kids by the end of the story. He's a merc captain, she's a bard who joined the merc group to manage their PR. They have a happy life then both die but they enjoyed themselves and there's LOTS of sex.

Minor pairings.

The Princess' brother and the princess of another country. Marry for politics but end up slowly falling in love with each other.

The princess's sister and a count whose a national hero for some funky stuff at the beginning of the story. A love match sneakily engineered by the princess' brother.

Just one for me:

Nick Watts, 39, just retired from the US Army (because of an OTJ accident, not his fault), father of 1 (Angel, 15, whose mother ran off with a sailor several years ago). At loose ends because of his unexpected retirement and unsure (for the first time in his life) what he wants to do or where he wants to go. He's taking a small hiatus during this story, visiting an old friend, Eddie Black, eldest brother of...

Shelly Black Ingram, 28, waitress, mother of 2 (Mike, 8, and Boone, 6), hopes to open her own restaurant some day. She's widowed; her former husband died in a car crash (I know, cliched) just after Boone was born. Shelly has serious trust issues because of her no-good husband, which is why she's never even dated since then. Plus, she's very independent, to the point of not even allowing her family to help with the boys.

In spite of his ex-wife's treatment, Nick doesn't have nearly the issues with women that Shelly has with men (possibly because he was a bit older when Angel's mother left; Shelly's ex was her first real adult relationship). They're attracted to each other, but there are several obstacles each must overcome before they can be together. Hopefully, it will all work out in the end. Well, it does in my synopsis, anyway. Reckon I'll have to wait to see what happens in the end. :-)

Since my novel is fueled by a relationship, I'm going to post here, as well!

Claire Fitzwilliam, 16, angel (not quite, just a term popular culture adopted for her species, even if no humans really know about her species), she is the oldest daughter of one of the world's richest families (in this universe, anyway) and was born and raised in Cape Town. Her family moved to London when she was thirteen so she could go to the Royal Ballet School (like her mother and aunt before her), and she is, at the time of the story, working towards being a soloist in the Royal Ballet (she's also quite gifted, like her aunt).

In any case, she's obsessed with her dance and her career and her dreams, but she's also madly in love with her boyfriend of nearly one year, Jack Camden.

Jack Camden, freshly 18 near the start of the story, is a London punk. He was raised by his junkie mother in lieu of his unknown father, and was repeatedly abused (in all forms) as a child. He works as a mechanic and has a band on the side, for which he is the lead singer. Jack's stage presence is, for his genre, as electric and praised as Claire's is for hers. Jack's quiet, barely speaks much (only when it's important), and before he met Claire, he dated/slept with just about every girl he found attractive. He's quite a presence, though he's an inch shorter than Claire (her posture makes it more noticeable, as he slouches).

One day, dear Jack's band (the Pornstars, as it were) gains the attention of a slightly more well known band and they go on tour around Britain.

The story centers on Claire walking and hitching her way to him, propelled by a month of rumors that Jack was unfaithful to her (lies, of course).

It's not happy by any means, and the reason it's lit fic and not romance is because most of the novel takes place inside Claire's troubled head.

I only have one pairing:
Alek (20)- workaholic who has a tendency to forget his priorities, but he's loyal to a fault
Vera (19)- student, she's having a hard time redefining herself after she makes a life-changing bad choice.
They end up running away together from the law and taking care of young kid that they found abandoned.

Taylor "Samurai" Kensington and Pamuya Kalashiavu - he owns a spaceship and she's a passenger pretending to be part of the crew. The main characters in the story. It takes them forever mostly because he spends the first half of the story mad at her.

Kaburaki Ryogo and Dr. Young - both scientists. Not the main characters so they don't do anything "onscreen"

No other pairings unless you count a girl and her dog. But they just have the owner/pet relationship.

Becca Hendricks, mid-20's, realtor who's also flipping houses.
Jake Taylor, mid-late 20's and a lawyer. He's engaged. To someone else. They hire Becca to help them buy a house.

Other pairings:
Becca's bestfriend Bethanne, mid-20-'s, grad student and barrista, paired with a guy she picks up at a Halloween party. She's normally the different-guy-every-night kind of gal, but this one's going to stick around a while. His identity is the "guy in the pirate costume" He might get a personality, but probably not till December. His current name (Stuart) is probably going to change as soon as I come up with a better one!

Oh yeah, Jake's fiance appears to have a little something on the side.

I have a pirate captain and a prince as my romantic couple :) They've been through a lot already, but a lot of really bad things are about to happen just before the end of the story. They will get their happily ever after though! They'll really deserve it!

Josepine (no last name yet) - 25 years old, looks like a doll and gets treated like one, too. She's blonde, blue eyed, porcelain skin, and less than 5 feet tall. She hates the way everyone treats her like a pretty decoration instead of a person. When she gets captured by my MMC, she decides to enjoy her adventure with the only man who's ever looked at her with romantic desire.

Patrick Howell - 27 years old, second son who now runs a successful merchant fleet. He's on a privateer mission to find Napoleon's ex-wife Josephine but accidentally winds up with the FMC. Despite his dangerous task and risky lifestyle, he can't seem to keep away from his little captive.

Mine's not romance, but hey, I'm procrastinating. So. (All my characters are university students, by the way, and all in their early twenties.) Colette, Heather, Peter, Gina, Olly and Will are housemates.

The main 'romantic' element in my story is the relationship between Colette and Lydia. Colette is a liberal, very scientifically-minded Christian. Lydia is an evangelical Christian, so there's lots of angst there. At least, there should be. *beats Lydia for not being angsty enough*

Peter is in the year above those two; he used to have a colossal crush on Colette, which she pretends she didn't know about. Now he's just very protective of her, and is (more or less) celibate, because he's considering getting ordained.

Colette's best friend, Heather, is a Quaker in a long-distance relationship with Nick, another Quaker.

Gina is Peter's best friend. She is going to spend most of the plot Not Getting Together with Olly. (She's a very confused Christian, again of the liberal sort; he's an atheist.) Eventually she'll get together with Will, who's an evangelical at the moment, but is going to lose his faith. Gina will sort him out (she's very good at sorting other people out, just not so good at sorting herself out) and they'll fall in love. Probably.

Pairings??

Caitlyn Buchanan, 28, a freelance translator. She used to aspire for the stage but an accident cut her blossoming career short. She lives in San Mateo Island (a fictional place) where lots of creative people reside (painters, writers, sculptors, etc.). She was once engaged to wonderful man.

Cal Laszlo, 31, a pianist. He lives in NYC. He came to the island for peace and quiet. And to request for a collaboration with an elusive composer. He was once engaged to a cheating woman.
