I've finally passed the half way mark! Woot!

Call me crazy (takes one to know one) but the weird thing is, I still reckon I can finish this thing off :-) An average of 2.5k per day for the rest of the month and I'll be set. Maybe it's not that hard.

My only problem I've had so far is that "Real Life (TM)" has been getting in the way. Hopefully it won't rear it's ugly head again for the next 10 days and just damn well leave me alone to get on with it.

GOOD LUCK to everyone on their final sprints to the finish line. I'll see you all there on the last day I expect. And an even bigger WELL DONE to those who have already finished.

You may be crazy but that doesn't mean that you can't finish your novel.
I went from 23,535 on the 20th to 50,007 by the 30th in 2005. Last year was a little easier at 27,430 on the 20th and a finish of 50,142.
I'm going to have do about the same as you this year, I haven't quite got to 25,000 yet.

This is great news! Clear your schedule and you can totally do 2.5K a day. Especially when I know you love your story like you do. :)

Yay. I love writing. :)

Hehe, thanks for the votes of confidence.

Avron, it looks like you're a stalwart when it comes to late finishes, so I'm going to have to use you as inspiration. Usually I'm a little more ahead of what I am now, but I guess that's just how it goes.

Hey, your story (Life story, not Nano-story) sounds suspiciously like mine! I'm just barely past 25K too, and Real Life likes to hit me in the face. Repeatedly. Except I have absolutely no sense of time whatsoever and didn't realize it was 10 days until you mentioned it...

But anyways, good luck andy, we can do it!!

Yep, you're so right. In fact, I'm getting more and more confident with each passing day (even though I did zilch again yesterday!).

As it turns out, I'm going to go for 2k per working day for the rest of the month, which leaves me with 4k to write on my days off (Sat, Sun, Thu, Fri). All doing well, I'll go and watch the Phoenix v Adelaide United next Friday once I've confirmed my win! Hopefully the Phoenix can do the same for once.

@angeldreams: I know you can do it too, going on the length of some of your blog entries :-) Can't wait to see you at the finish line!

I've done one of those mad rushing sprints to the finish line. In 2003 on the 26th I had 26.5k - I finished early in the morning on the 30th, and I think my all time top daily count was about 10k in 24 hours, so it's definately do-able.

Good Luck!!!

Nice to see you drop in Travis, how is the Holy World of Janus going? Noticed you've been quietly plodding along.
See you at the finish line. I am going to conclude mine today. Yay!

Now come on andy, get off here you can gossip later! G.

ha I have a Husband like you, I have to boot him up the bum at times. Supposed to be doing the Bert Munro Motor Cycle Challege this weekend. Too busy with work, have to change the gearing for a road circuit, blah, blah. The bike has been sitting in the workshop since last February when he rode it at Pukekohe.
See he got home earlier than he thought, right off to send him out to do the job, or no dinner!!

Yep, I've had a good day so far but I'm not finished yet :-)

Actually I forgot to update my word count last night, so I got 1,800 yesterday and so today, that means I'm on about 2,300 (hopefully, with more to come).

Anyway, onwards and upwards they say!

@Avron and @angeldreams: you guys are doing well. Good luck to all of the rest of us stragglers :-)

Wheeee! Andy, you're doing well! :) Hope everyone who was behind is also speedily catching up... (was I the only one who sighed wistfully as the last weekend of November passed? Now I can no longer rely on weekends to catch up.... hopefully, school load won't be too back-breaking this Very Important Week >_>)

UPDATE: And omg, yay, I'm catching up!!!! But.... I still have no plot DDD: So the write-like-the-wind-downhill isn't happening. I am walking on perfectly plain, pointless, flat land...... DDD:

Wow, Willocwen 46,021 is amazing. I'm sure you weren't that much ahead of me 8 days ago. In which case, you're doing a lot better than I am!

Anyways, I reckon all of us stragglers are in the position to easily get finished now so that's all good.

Wow, everyone in here is going so well! I was looking for some good pick-me-up kinda threads for me to join. :-) You guys can all eeeeeasily finish. Eeeeeasily!

I'm still hoping to finish, although I watched my last weekend slip away with dread! I only started on the 14th, really, but that's still OK. On Saturday I started with just over 10k, and now I have 24312 words... still very very much hoping to finish! I just still need to do about about 6500 words a day if I'm going to finish, assuming I do no more tonight.

I guess we'll see just how far last-minute runs can go. :-)

I had a good sprint a couple of days ago that surged me ahead! So now I'm aiming for a shiny winners' bar before I crash. :) Good luck and happy noveling.

Nah, go Ruth, you can do it! That'd be awesome if you finish. I saw your word count the other day and I wondered if you'd been abducted or something. Maybe the aliens injected you with SuperWordPower which is why you're doing amazing for someone who only started the other day.

Keep going Phyntosia, you can do it!

P.S. Any guys in Palmy want to join us for the Welly TGIO? That'd be cool too :-)

That's it! I'm taking thurs and friday off work to finish. This damn thing hasn't killed me yet.

Go Andy! I was down at your word count until the weekend!

What separates writers (and those of us who finish nano) from those who just talk about it? Actually sitting down and writing.

Go bloodymindedness!

I'm almost trying to figure out if I should take a sick day on Friday... except I've not been working at my current job long enough so no sick pay for me :(

Don't think I will - just wish I'd booked some leave in advance, but oh well! Go the nightly write-ins. :)

Cool! Looks like I'm averaging about 5000 words a day and going to bed no later than midnight... so, my next challenge: 5000 a day still means I'll be a day behind on my last day.

Dammit :(

10,000 tomorrow, I guess/hope! Whew.

You're doing great!

I'm just over 40k now, so 5k per day for the last two. I might try to get to 41k today and maybe >46k tomorrow.

Wow, the things we do for the sake of novelling :-)

Well, I've managed to make it to almost 43.5k. I want to hit 46k tonight and that leaves me with 4k tomorrow which is easily doable since I have the day off.

How are all you guys getting on?

Oh wow, Willocwen, congrats on the very beautiful purple bar!!!

Andy you've increased since the last time I saw you, now we're around the same number of words!! Now I'll have to keep writing not to lose to you :P

Phyntosia, good luck!! Did you have exams or something until the 14th? You can definitely do it, you're 36K already!!! :) You're writing so fast, I want your fingers!!!! XP (jk....?)

Yup, my last exam was on the 13th so I didn't start till the next day. I really really want to get to 45K tonight, but I really don't think I can do it! I don't want to assume I can do 10K on the last night - if only I had tomorrow off!!

Very sleepy, so good night!
